As I said earlier in the thread my greatest competition for my husband's mostly one day off on Fridays is the Australian Rugby season kicking off. But he can be reluctantly persuaded - yes I have ways and means! LOL

TB chuck KFC man you need to try POPEYES chicken...not the one at Ramada Signal, the OLD one...location: Cross Jaidah flyover, you come to a small signal, from there take a left head straight down to a small round about make a uturn and go past sterling chicken you'll see this small place on ur right main road. parking is a biatch but try the friend chicken there..15 bucks 4 pieces of chicken with garlic sauce :D

metoyou makes no difference, if someone wants to just come and observe and see who is who they can still get the venue through pm and show up, or come to the meet up and give us some false id. End of the day its a matter of personal choice who wants to socialize and who doesnt.

sorry to hear that smoke.. my suggestion is that maybe you or we can create a group or start with a small group that is already trusted here in QL. It's like building a strong foundation of friendship that everyone can benefit. Maybe it's better if we could avoid also few things:

1. Posting the venue in public(maybe it's better so send it through pm the venue only to those who confirm to come.

2. Add only those who are serious about gathering not just the one who come and observe. (you know what i mean)

hope this would not be the end.

So finally..!!! but around 27 confirmed on the main post of Beach BBQ.. Some just want to hide behind the screen, But doesn't matter, we can do coffee meetups, and Billiard meetups, and win some games from Captain_the_get_Lost

guies social meets are great,, i think ,, do it for some cause ,, we are from different countries ,, in the country back there are many unprivileged people , needy , organize a meet and raise some fund to help do socializing for social cause,, 'smoke' you are good person who tried to gather people... please put an aim in each meet and surely you will feel happy and proud of yourself even people will not show interest in that......

I have always done open meet ups and never concentrated on any "group" of people. Seeing the type of nutters that keep posting on Ql discourages some long time members from coming for fear of running into these type of people.

Guess the only way to go about this is the old fashioned way. Interact with people on the forum, if you click with a person just send them a pm and meet up.

Shame Smoke as I unfortunately don't check the QL forum often and was not aware that you were organising get-togethers! Of course the weather may have been a bit of a factor with people lacking in enthusiasm as we seem to have had lots of cooler days lately.

My husband has fallen into working almost 6 days again - Safety Mgr - so it is hard to get him out on his only day off - Friday! - particularly now the Australian Rugby season has started! LOL.

But if you do decide to do something again or you hear of someone else having a "do", please PM me? Would love to meet some fellow expats - we've been here nearly two years ashamed to say and not done a lot of socialising for one reason or another! High time for a change I reckon! :)

smokey, there were a lot of QLers who enjoyed meeting other QLers in coffee meets and similar gatherings. Unfortunately most of them are either left or are hibernating (as mentioned by baldy). Now a days all the newbies are good in posting their urge for a gathering but none of them are really interested for it.

I skipped it because of other meetings and usually I will be busy on Thursday and Friday nights.

smoke missed out the 6th idiot. Sir. Rizkz. :)

Thats most unfortunate Smoke i would have come but since i am travelling tommorow needed to make arrangements/purchases.

I feel many people dont like to go out and meet new people in person these days( unless they are told that there will be many hotties...).But hope we can still have small outings/sheishas, drinks etc etc.....

U can still organize and meet new people along with some Ol ones...who ever wants let them join and whoever feels like hiding behind the screen let them be - atleast for some u cannot stop meeting new people and discovering new things and info around !

there use to be SPEED who use to do the Volunteering stuff, but left the group and now is in some den....:(
