What fun, the corniche was a blast yesterday with music, entertainment, and lots of people driving around with there cars all done up. Everyone was in a great mood and the weather was so pleasant. Took some great pics and had a great time. Beautiful day in Doha!

it was a disappointment. i wanted to watch the parade but since it was not posted in the website of QND, i thought there was no parade whatsoever, only to hear that indeed, there was one! even if its only a military parade, i would have like to watch it for the historical value that it was. another thing, i wasn't able to watch the fireworks because it was very, very late already. i thought it was 9PM? i was stucked at ct center, frozen to my toes, waiting for a taxi for hours because of that monstrous traffic..grrrr....

THE FIRE WORKS WERE OUTRAGES BUT IT LASTED ONLY FOR ABOUT 20MTS AFTER WAITING FOR IT TO START AT 21.00HRS ACCORDING TO THE SCHEDULE WHICH WAS PUBLISHED IN MEDIA.

DID ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH DID IT COST FOR THE DISPLAY OF THE FIRE WORKS AND WHO ARE THE EXPERTISE BEHIND THE SHOW.

I don't understand why the fire works scheduled to late hours. It was announced that the show will be in between 9 to 9:30, but happened after 10:00. I could see a lot of people at corniche was waiting to see the fireworks and most of the crowd left around 9:30 with great disappointment. Only empty roads and some convoy of cars intermittedly moved up and down. The highly published light and laser shows were not upto the standard. And reapeated show of some old video clippings on the big screens was not intersting too. Really the well publicised celebration was mainly wastage of time. Nothing other than fireworks at corniche was impressive. And that too lost the beauty as it kept the crowd for long... If it was conducted around 7:30 to 8:00 it would have got more applause....

saw the parade and the air and sea show, then home by 1200.

I kept an eye on Qatar TV to see if the firework display would be televised at 9.00 (when it was supposed to start) but although they kept flipping over to The Corniche I didn't see anything going on.

Just glad I wasn't down there in the freezing cold with a grumpy hub in tow LOL

Looking forward to someone on QL posting some pix of the fireworks (and water display?)

it was ok.. not up to the expectations.. i went there at 3PM and walked all the way from meuseum to the end of corniche...but i didn't see any intresting events rather than all the cars roming around with lots of noise... around 5 PM they stopped all the traffic towards corniche..the roads was empty but no any envents.. lots and lots of peoples was just waiting for some interesting things to go.. but nothing.. at last on 10.15 at night the fire works started and ended on 10.30.. thats alll... but the fire works for 15 minutes was very very nice...
