PARTY ON THE PITCH - More fun ruined in Qatar
By Alpha_Wolf •
PARTY ON THE PITCH
It is with great regret that the DRFC Executive Committee announce that this year's "Party on the Pitch", scheduled to take place on 20 November, has been postponed until further notice. The Qatar regulations under which such events are now allowed to operate are currently very unclear, and in such sensitive times for the club, we do not want to put our current or future existence in jeopardy. Once the regulations are clarified, we will review our options, and hope to inform you that we can run this event at a later date.
AFRAID TO HAVE FUN DUE TO CONFUSING RULES
(P.S. Don't try to have fun or we will put you in jail...)

I think we are all losers here. First many families can no longer enjoy this nice family day out in Doha - there really aren't that many of them. Second, the club looses a good fund raising opportunity. Third all expats ( and even some Qataris) loose as we watch the available leisure time activities wither away.
Seems the country doesn't mind attracting and entertaining tourist, if they are affluent enough, but residents are slowly being forced into only working and sleeping as the restrictions grow and grow.
I thought and hoped things would be going in the other direction.....

A good family day out that takes place year after year without incident is ruined.
Maybe they could put a picture of the empty pitch in the World Cup Bid Pack under the headline.... Qatar backs all sports and welcomes all nationalities. (P.S. Don't try to have fun or we will put you in jail...)
Another day out for the Expats (Doha club members friends and families) ruined because of the unclear Qatari Regulations.
Speaking to some of the member at the Doha Rugby club. They just don't want to take any risks espeically what happened to Garvey's. Guess the only loser here is Rugby as the funds raised from this fun day are normally poured back into the club.

used to raise funds to send the Doha Rugby Club teams to Dubai for the 7's matches....
Poor guys... don't know who will be going this year:-(

The point being no one can actually figure out the rules because they change so frequently with no notice and no way to even confirm them.
So people don't want to take a chance......

It does kinda suck doesn't it?
Yet another of Qatar's many 'made-up-on-the-day' rules that are not catalogued anywhere.
The rules for labor are also very unclear. Labor in Qatar should be postponed until the regulations are clarified!
