From what I've read, boys in Iran are not subject to corporal punishment until they are at least 14 or 15. Girls on the other hand are subject to the full range of punishments (flogging, amputations,stoning, hanging etc.) from the age 9.

To what end? For what purpose?

Since IRNA stands for "Islamic Republic News Agency," one assumes the purpose to is to instill the fear of Allah into people, as an aspect of shari'a.

To me, this is almost more disturbing than if the photos were "real." We're supposed to be reassured that a government agency openly creates fake news for propagandistic purposes?

Furthermore, whether or not the kid was actually being punished for stealing bread, the images depict a dangerous stunt that no child should be involved in. It's still child abuse even if it is not as "real" as we thought.

The best thing to do is not to forward on these types of e-mails. I never pass them on...in this day and age of "internet crap" as I refer to it you have no idea what is true and what is not. If you receive this type of stuff hit the delete button.

Even if it is true - as thexonic said you cannot judge a "religion" by the act of a few. This has been said many, many times on QL - you have good and bad in every walk of life. Perhaps when people stop judging others by their religion, nationality, culture, race, etc....things might get better.

In islamic jurisprudence if a child was made to commit an offence he would be punished. Not the way the one who hired or forced him to do it would. The child would be given a punishment to deter him not to do it again but the one who will either face death or amputation of limbs is the one who masterminded and made the child do it.Especially if the crime committe resulted in the death ot severe injury of the victim.

Street performers in India do all sort of inhuman acts with kids to make money. Its really sad..but its true.

If anyone cared to know, or ever look up before commenting... In Islam if a person is caught stealing food to feed themselves or their family is is not constituted as a crime and he should be given food.
