Nightmare experience in Doha (Where are the trusted authorities...?)

Qatar Idols
By Qatar Idols

Just wanted to share to ya'll a nightmare experience which were sent to me by my very good friend here in Doha. And I advice to triple your awareness and secure yourself if you'll travel alone, or pair or better in group.

My sister in law recently visited doha to meet my parents for the first time. She had just arrived two days ago with my month old niece and I was taking her to the Losail circuit for the MotoGP thing going on. We had private tickets and wanted to go after the race to the paddocks.
Anyway, on the way, I notice a range rover that had been following us for a good 20 minutes all the way from my place to the corniche. They did fall back sometimes but caught back up. Kept staring at my sister in law and showing money to her (classy). Anyway I stop at the last gas station before the road to Khor and notice a cop car there. I go talk to them and tell them about the car thats been following us all the way. The cop takes their number and asks me where im going and offers to drive behind us all the way to the losail circuit.
Anyway I fill up and leave the station and the cop makes a u-turn at the first round-about. The range rover followed us through. This point I start hitting the gas to get away from them and my sister in law calls the cops on the phone and tell them whats going on. What happens next will live with me for a long time to come. At almost 160-180kph, the range rover comes up on my side and turns in sharply missing me less than an inch. I had to turn my car sharply to avoid them, doing this I hit a big rock on the side of the road and the right side of my car jumped a good three feet in the air and hits the ground hard. I could feel the gas pedal become useless as the car crawled to a stop. I tell my sister in law to stay in the car and lock it and I take my crowbar(I keep one with me after all the horror stories that happen on the highways here) and step out of the car. The range rover stops behind us and five qatari men,18-25 at best, step out of the car. Two of them were too drunk to even walk properly. Anyway I ask them if there is a problem and we can take care of it if they want that. They come closer saying something in arabic and try to grab my right hand, I lose the crowbar in the fight but get one of them in the chin with my right hand. After that they over powered me and messed me up pretty bad.
Now they tried to open the door of my car and when they couldn't they start hitting the car. As I start getting back up and grab my crowbar again they run back to their car and speed off almost running me over.
I get back in the car and my sister in law is in tears. Thankfully the baby in the back of the car was ok. the cops arrive after a leisurely 20 minutes and offer to take us to the hospital after seeing the condition of the car.
This happened yesterday midnight on the way to khor. The police told me that they will be contacting me if they get a hold of those people but till now, nothing. As for my sister in law, she will be leaving on wednesday. My niece was not harmed.
And the fact that me and my family was in harms way and not one car stopped to lend a hand. The fact that harm could have come to a month old child and her 19 year old mother because of some drunken losers who act like they have never seen a girl before, and the fact that all this hapenned in what is supposed to be one of the safest countries in the region. Ive read stories here to parking lot horrors and all that but I never thought it could happen to me. or that it was a rare thing here. well according to some friends here, its more common than you think.
