More than 700,000 visited Doha book fair

More than 700,000 people visited the 25th Doha International Book Fair that concluded Saturday evening.

Abdullah Al Ansari, Director of the fair and Head, Public Libraries, Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, said that on Thursday and Friday and the week before, the fair saw an unprecedented turnout from across Qatar and outside.

He said the fair was held for the first time at Qatar National Convention Center which also contributed to increasing the number of visitors.

The 26th edition of the fair will be held from December 2 to 12 and will not coincide with examinations at Independent schools, he added.

Al Ansari expressed pleasure over the success of the silver jubilee of the fair held under the patronage of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

He praised support of the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari which also contributed to the success of the fair.
