Here at Broadband Ireland our aim is to review, test and compare broad band deals and all of the home and mobile broadband packages that are available in Ireland. We do this so that you can then choose the best broadband package to suit your needs. We don’t just review home broadband packages.

For the iPhone there is only AT&T that is the service provider in the US so if you are in the US and want to use mobile broadband on the iPhone then you will need the services of AT&T. If you are using the iPhone in another country then you will have to speak to your mobile service provider if they offer internet mobile services and what rentals do they charge.

If you are in some other country then you can use payg mobile broadband which gives you great mobile broadband and great phone service too.

go to qtel.com.qa then click "products and services " at top. then choose internet services then mobile broadband then Qtel USB modem. you should then see profile settings. see how that works out.

Hi Master-mas. Did you try looking through Qtel website for the settings needed for windows mobile devices ? I remember when i had a windows powered device previously, i got the settings from there.

I will see if i can get more details for you.

I was going to try it until I saw the download limit...I really wanted the faster speed:)

Scmasse..

dude..

u have good points.. but,

..

i've tested the speed on www.speedtest.net

it's around 2.8MB Download and 500KB Upload..

so it's perfect for Gaming..

..

plus.. i got this really really cheap.. u people pay 400 QRs a month.. i pay only 80 QRs a month.. imagine that.. can u tell me it's not worth buying.. lol..

..

i do have another mobile.. so i use the SIM with the iPhone. i can connect the iPhone to the Laptop using USB cable & share the internet connection..

..

it's the best offer i got from workin here so far..

..

i don't care about the limit.. i hardly download 2 movies a week..

i guess i never exceed 10GB a month..

"used the Mobile Broadband SIM card on the iPhone.

go to Settings.

General.

Network.

Cellular Data Network.

set APN to : web.qtel

if u have an Application called (Boss Prefs)

use it to Enable 3G

enable Edge & Disable WiFi..

Restart phone..

should be workin now.."

But if you use this SIM then you have no phone access, right? You'd have to swap back and forth or carry a second phone around;)

Also, it may be fast but is not UNLIMITED as advertised...go to Q-Tel and read up on their new Fair-Usage Policy in regards to the unlimited account: 15GB Max per month.

"It's advertised at 7.5 mbps theoretical download bandwidth. Well worth the 400QR if the actual speed is anywhere upwards of 1 mbps. That's cheaper than Qtel ADSL."

The problem with the "Unlimited" service is that it is NOT unlimited. On my ADSL account I probably download 100GB per month on average. With the new Q-Tel "Fair Usage Policy" for the Unlimited Mobile Broadband it is capped at 15gb per month (go read the lovely fine print).

What a marketing scam this really is. The SIM you get is Data only, which means no phone service, you still are subject to your Shahry charges for internet use on your phone.

If I am in any way wrong on this (just spent an hour researching it at Q-Tel) please let me know how to get around it.

master_mas this will not work with QTEL, Since qtel is not able to send you the configuration files for Iphone. But since you work for Qtel, you should be able to get them to update it's configuration database to be able to help out all Iphone users in Qatar.

There are actually ways around this, but it requires a bit of hacking - and it does not work with Officially unlocked Iphones, only hacked one's

u people pay 400 a month..

i'm working with Q-Tel so, i get a very good discount on this.. it's almost free.. lol..

anyway,

it's workin perfectly everywhere i go.. don't have to search for a WiFi hot spot anymore..

how can i use this 3G SIM card on the iPhone.?

I guess its a bad option...I cant imagine where you would use it....other than your house, place of work, or Airport.

Plus...You cannot use it where there is no cell-site or cell connectivity!

ADSL or MosiacTV wifi would have been great for QR 250

Plug it in your Laptop and not your mobile
