Making use of torch light for photography

After watching Gavin Hoey's video on smoke photography, I was desperate to try it out. Having no external flash of mine yet, I set out to try it using two torch lights. I wasn't sure how The results would come out, but they turned out to be amazing. Below are images I was able to get!. This time I have posted a detailed diagram of the setup I've used, on my Blog.
Check it out: http://blog.djustified.com/2011/03/smoke-photography-made-simple.html
Please watch his video first and then take a look at the description I have given below. I recommend you to try it yourself!

Good Work Nomad.. I recommend you to try Lightroom and Photoshop. They're also available in Mac version. Have you noticed that the flash has given your picture so much contrast than mine...? The torch is a good budget solution but using a flash gives the best contrast! - a good learning point!

Yup SB-900...i tweaked the exposure and contrast a little on iPhoto. Dont have a Photoshop (yet) and iPhoto doesn't have that much capability. Thanks for liking the photo. Ill be adding you on flickr for sure... Thanks for the tips once again :-)

Thank you Garfieldisc, Smoke and all friends.

Nomad: My original shot came out like yours.(see below)

I have cropped the left part of the image because it looked blank.

But since it looked great, I wanted to fill the black area. so I pasted two more shots as layers in Photoshop(chose blend mode: multiply). One layer had darker blue than the other and it did not match with the others. So I added a layer mask to adjust the hue of the blue color. I noticed when I varied the hue, the image started to look like flames. So I ended up with those flame like colors. But the below picture is not edited. Only a few weaks on saturation and clarity...Hope you got the idea. If not, let me know, I will try do post a more detailed version on my blog..

BTW; have you used a speedlight? your's has good contrast and I like your pic... Add me if you're on flickr
