Dec. 31 to Jan 1 celebration for us ...preparing food on the night of 31 its like thanking/prayer for all the blessings that we had for the whole year, having that time when you gather all the friends and family to celebrate with us and the world, to welcome the new year with a grand dinner, to be surrounded with positive energy where everyone can hope for good fortune in the next year.

Mom always says that the more food on the table on the first day of the year the more blessing for the coming year, why break the tradition..it works for us... Happy New Year everyone....

Can anyone explain to me why do we celebrate the new year? Is it not another excuse to get drunk and forget the worries of our daily lives? After all, for all practical purposes nothing changes in our lives on the 1st of January.
