Good Work Putin

Very good idea : Surrender the weapons and no bombing. :)

*******************************************

Russian President Vladimir Putin is no fan of the idea of American exceptionalism. He suggests that God isn't either.

"It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation," Putin wrote in an opinion piece posted Wednesday on the website of The New York Times.

"There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too," he wrote. "We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord's blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal."

Putin's remarks concluded a plea to Americans for caution in dealing with Syria, a Russian ally. He cited President Barack Obama's speech Tuesday night in which he asserted that American ideals and principles "are at stake in Syria" as he made his case for holding the Assad government accountable for a deadly chemical weapons attack near Damascus.

"That's what makes America different," Obama said. "That's what makes us exceptional. With humility, but with resolve, let us never lose sight of that essential truth."

You don't understand the concept, people. They will frame Syria in any way. Sad but true.

Assad will not kill you if you are a Sunni or a Christian, he will kill or put you behind bars if you are not loyal but the opposition and fake Islamists whom West, US and allies are supporting from years , will kill you if you are not a Sunni or Muslim.

BE that is because the Christians are more scared of the Muslims than Assad. Look what is happening to the Coptic Christians in Egypt, churches attacked, Christians being killed.

There was an interesting piece on the BBC two days ago. It showed the Syrian army trying to take back a town from the rebels. The Syrian army was being supported by Christian rebels because the other side had destroyed many churches in the town..

So, its a total mess and Obama and the West need to stay out..

Last night I watched a discussion about intervention in Syria on TV. Most People were against it...a Syrian person was very upset and tried with all his might to convince people to vote FOR foreign intervention in Syria.

May be they will intervene after the surrender of weapons, with some other manipulated reason.

Brit, I know that. And that does not exclude what is happening now...it is planned action and expected reaction.

If you read the American papers, most are of the opinion that Obama put his foot in it by initially drawing the red line in the sand and then giving Assad the ultimatum.

Most Americans and many congressman are against intervention or attacking.

In order to bring someone on the negociating table, he must be threatened of real and fatal consequences...you can't negotiate with a man who knows he is winning a war.

I guess, without America's threat, Putin would never have come out with this deal. Who wants to lose a good client?

By nomerci• 12 Sep 2013 18:19

I'd say America never actually wanted to bomb Syria. But by saying they are considering it, they got the attention of Putin...who obviously does not want to have to fight America...so there...Putin is ready to negotiate! Voila, mission accomplished !

Exactly - whats the purpose of the USA bombing and killing Syrians, when the Syrian leaders are doing such a good job of it themselves.

100,000 Syrians had been killed by other Syrians by July. Who knows what the number is now, in September. Much larger.

With such a good track record of being able to kill, why should America join in? Before long all the Syrians will either be dead or in refugee camps, so problem solved.

Stay away, America,

I think bombing syria is a great idea.

Syrians are killing syrians and sometimes in a nasty way, so america will kill syrians to punish them for killing syrians and to stop them killing syrians in future. If the syrians keep killing syrians, then the americans will kill more syrians as another warning for killing syrians. Soon there will be no more syrians left, so no syrians can get killed.

Thanks for clarifying Brit.

When you write: "The praise for Putin lies mainly in the fact that Putin is standing up to Obama" you aren't giving yourself enough credit. What you are arguing is that the praise for Putin is mainly because he is standing up for what is right.

Yes, Israel has repeatedly stood up to the USA. And the Americans have allowed it to do so for mutual benefit.

I detest Putin and all he stands for. However, I do believe that Obama is overstepping the line in this instance and needs to be stopped.

Sadly, the lies of Bush and Blair are coming back to haunt us and the trust in politicians is at an all time low.

Brit,

By that logic people should be in love with Israel. No one has stood up to the USA more often and more arrogantly than a country that has spent decades stealing land, killing civilians, and telling the USA to butt out.

Standing up against the USA is, by definition, a good thing, even if it means killing civilians in the process?

By britexpat• 12 Sep 2013 12:31

Both USA and Russia have their own agendas. The praise for Putin lies mainly in the fact that Putin is standing up to Obama.

As with the vote in the UK, it is clear that the public in most countries including the USA don't want an intervention.

In addition, the route that Obama is taking sets a dangerous precedence - It means that the USA at present and maybe Russia or China in the future can act as judge, jury and executioner.

Some people know very little about politics and consume media info as fast food. Russia was among a few countries that averted further crisys escalation... and if there is a clown out there.. that would be Obama.... a real clown.. who promised so much and did so many wrong things instead... he is a total failure

Strange to see people in Qatar praising Putin for this.

He is doing his best to protect his friends, the Israelis, from retaliation from Syria and Iran.

Netanyahu has already convinced Putin to sell arms that were originally for Syria to the Israelis.

The Palestinians must be so happy about all of Putin's good work.

You believe that?...lol

Weapon inspection always preceeds any attack.

bombs will start to fall in Syria during Nov and Dec ... GPS and infrared warfare are best in winter months... that is how it will be...

live telecast, deferred telecast, repeated telecast of the same 10 second footage will be run around in loops... and most of us will watch it again and again like zombies...

israel has a lot of chemical weapons, and it has used them on civilians too (gaza, phosphoric bombs).

Don't like Putin, but got to give him credit for outmanoeuvring Obama..

A U.S journalist put it very well when he said ..

"When I hear Obama or Kerry rage with indignation, I can’t help feeling that it sounds hollow. Americans started a war in Iraq that killed tens of thousands of Iraqis. We tortured people. And now we launch drones around the globe — weapons that give, to a very small number of people, the power of judge, jury and hangman all at once. These acts have eroded our authority to pronounce on moral issues in foreign affairs."
