Alain Robert, 48, the French climber known as Spiderman for his ability to climb skyscrapers without ropes or a harness, says he will scale the Burj Khalifa early next year.

Robert, speaking at a climbing awards ceremony in Malaysia, said the glistening 828m tower was a challenge he could not resist.

“I’ll have to do it… maybe between January and April 2011. I know the people of Dubai, they are interested (in seeing me climb the skyscraper),” he said.

Never heard UAE government granting permission for anyone to climb the Burj tower. Might very well be fake! This is definitely not Burj Khalifa!
