Girl power!
I love it when I see young girls turn out in sports attire, chins up in silent confidence, looking to take on the world and its little surprises, at every single turn.
It reminds me of my growing-up years.
I grew up in a silent neighbourhood where ‘good girls’ were taught to talk silently and walk with straight backs, attend church mass regularly and generally do what they were asked to do, without questions. I was lucky to say ‘enough was enough’ when I did. I was luckier to have parents who listened to what their daughter had to say.
I don’t claim to have captured the world, but I am working on it, I swear, LOL!
When I look at these girls, I cannot but resist salute them for their brave stand, to swim against the overwhelming tide. I cannot but say ‘Bravo, well done!’ to the parents who listened to what their children had to say.
Qatar is a young nation, on the verge of growing into greatness. I’ve little doubt left in my old, weary, much-travelled mind that this country will be built on the shoulders of women like these.
God bless them, and god bless Qatar!
... or should I say... GIRLS?!!!
