Fire on flat from PHONE CHARGER - MUSCAT
A telephone charger left plugged into the power supply sparked a fire that gutted a residence of an Al Khoudh resident recently. The fire massively damaged all materials and reduced to ashes nearly all valuable possessions and furniture, which left the entire house tinted and covered in a blanket of thick dust right from the floor to rooftop.
According to the resident of the flat, Nomatokazi Thoki, a senior midwife at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, almost an hour after she had left the house to attend her routine tasks at the hospital, she was suddenly informed that her house was on fire. "The first thing I thought of was the safety of my eight- year-old son whom I had left waiting outside the house for his transport to school."The main door had been broken by the firefighters to get access to the flat and my son was no where to be seen. Rapidly we drove to the school, where we fortunately found him loading off the school bus. I shook him to prove if he was alright. The little boy was surprised and unaware of the fire incident and why I was shocked.
""Now, that I am trying to recover and overcome the nightmares of the incident, the only thing that replays in my mind all the time is to thank God the Almighty for saving our souls.""

Now that should be an eye opener. All electrical plugs should be switched off when not in use.
my mobile charger
my iphone charger
my notebook charger
all are always plugged in
Oh God .... My mobile charger is also plugged all the time, we should be careful onwards.....
Considering the general construction quality standard (including electrical installations) of this region, I would suspect the cause is more related to the electrical installations than the recharger it self…
