There is also the issue of safety. An obese person would have difficulty evacuating the plane in an emergency or may cause hinderance to others.

They can't "allocate a row for seats for fat people"...the plane will be lopsided!

And yes, if somebody is so fat that he interfers with the space of his seat neighbour, the he should have to buy 2 seats...or better 3 one on each side.

"human trafficking is legal in Europe" ?

By StaceyR• 8 Sep 2013 14:45
StaceyR

That is why human trafficking is legal in Europe. It's more lucrative. Perverts like Crippy won't mind paying to see some blonde turf in a glass.

Who will determine how fat is fat?

Westerners & Arabs are generally heavier and bigger in size compared to the average asians. If we were to implement this, should then Sri Lankan air charge all westerners & Arabs extra fee by default?

By Sulieman• 8 Sep 2013 11:34
Sulieman

They should prepare some special section in the "Planes" for fat people

Bigger seat, size is 1.5X times the normal size

Everything will be ok

I don't wanna be squeezed ,, I payed money :O(

@ Marco: Are you serious? Cuz it might be a medical condition for someone. And btw... some one could argue that only good looking people should be allowed on-board... what will happen in that case?

You will end up paying twice or thrice in that case? :)

How about charging less or kids...They are charging full rates for kids above 2 1/2 years..

How could they justify that.

By happygolucky• 8 Sep 2013 09:37
happygolucky

If the person has some medical issues due to which it has gained weight I guess I would be OK unless the person is wealthy enough to pay that extra for itself. May be the Income tax return certificate be also asked for from such fellas at the time of booking...:)

Why should all the other passengers have to subsidise their flight?

Are all you people saying you are happy to pay an extra 100 QR on your ticket to help out the fat people?

A couple of rows with big size seats should help these guys who are fat not cos of just eating as was discussed on BBC yesterday night. Some suggested for a medical prescription to be produced by such passengers to know if he can be accomodated on bigger seats or be provdied more space within the same cost or be charged more which seem to be quite OK.

By landloverreview• 8 Sep 2013 09:00

Yes if they don't have any illness which prohibits them from doing any physical workouts.

isnt necessary tat fat people are fat because they eat too much...may be he/she is suffering from some other disease ?

MN, no it is not. Fat people are fat because they eat too much and exercise too little. It is a very simple equation.

fat people have no excuse for being fat. It is because they eat too much and exercise too little.

Why should the rest of us suffer due to their selfishness.

That is going to hurt them even worst, Rizks.. Let them sit beside you ;)

By Rizks• 8 Sep 2013 08:14

then they should make a rule all the fatties should book their tickets in business or first class so tat their size can fit the seats in these class/category and not in ECONOMY class.

By Janneeyy03• 8 Sep 2013 08:11
Janneeyy03

Then Rizks, all airlines should allocate few seats specially for them. I mean, how is it going to hurt their millions of earning if they are going to be a little bit accommodating?

By Rizks• 8 Sep 2013 08:06
Rizks

and wat if the seat is not fit to adjust his/her big bum ? :(

By mast kalandar• 8 Sep 2013 08:05

They are also human beings like us and we can find atleast one of them from most of our family as well so better to treat them equal and try to adjust them in the normal seat

I think fat ppl should not be charged extra, as i guess humans are different from luggage.

By Rizks• 8 Sep 2013 07:56

for that, they have to make a bigger plane first !

By MarcoNandoz-01• 8 Sep 2013 07:50
MarcoNandoz-01

But will the airlines be willing to give overweight people a bigger seat and a bigger toilet, and a bigger pillow?

By Rizks• 8 Sep 2013 07:43
Rizks

I wonder how will this fatty people enter tat small toilet in the plane ? :(

By Handsome_Prince• 8 Sep 2013 07:40

No they should not..anyway the fat people are already suffering with their weight problems...

what if you all out there were fat?? :)

By Rip Cord• 8 Sep 2013 07:37

Yes the fatties should pay extra. They consume more fuel to move their huge body weight and they spill out of their economy seats.
