Tq for the replies/comments. Just landed in Doha a couple of weeks ago from Kuala Lumpur. Didn't bring my bike along but got my jerseys n stuff, and yes I'm looking for a riding buddy/group to start riding on Friday mornings. And I'm looking for a decent bike shop to get a bike, any info would be helpfull. Btw pls check out www.letua.com to see where I'm coming from.
I think we should start something like they have done in Dubai, because I'm going crazy here with nothin much else to do.
... on a Friday morning by a f**kwit worker who wasn't paying attention. Hammdullah he will be ok, but it could have been awful. Too, too dangerous here. The police didn't care. Came to the hospital after 4 days, and shrugged. "He will be deported" they said, as if that were to make up for a broken arm, leg, ribs and a punctured lung...
The cooled bike path isn't happening. It was a hypothetical for the corniche.
I've only cycled once here, and even then I took my bike over to Aspire to get away from the lethal traffic, unfortunately I wasn't in Doha for the recent Wheels and Heels event, it'd be nice to cycle along the corniche properly.
i'd be interested in this too for when i move to doha.
hisham, i posted a thread about the cooled bike path project but didnt get much of a response. i dont think that there is much of a biking culture in qatar. or if there is, i haven't found it. are you looking for a riding buddy?

hisham9,
Welcome to Doha.
I think your idea is good, but isn't it better to wait till October , when the weather will be pleasanter ?
I cycle inside the compound I live in. As there are no good footpaths, i don't think cycling on the roads is safe.
