CARMEN opera @ Katara

Yesterday I went to see Carmen at Katara Opera House, an amazing place, acoustics and magnificent orchestra and both chorus (senior and kids). But for some of the main characters i.e Carmen, singers were like in a rehersal, reading the song lyrics, and drinking water from the bottles while singing. Ok, its supposed to be only excerpts from the music and the Opera songs, but will they behave like that in a real presentation of the Opera?

Nop. Last Rehersal was Friday. Two functions Saturday and Sunday.

That is normal.. even great great opera singers need to drink some water while performing. They need to see lyrics and notes as well. it is the same when you are watching singer sing on TV they have the lyrics in LCD big screen or written in big papers besides the camera.
