Can we make friends through QL?

Dear All,
I'm new to this lovely nation and need to get used to things here...
I'm from India and a teacher by profession. During this Summer Holiday, I'm left alone @ home as all my collegues have all gone on vacation! I'm terribly bored and badly require friends here...
Help me find good and real friends through QL (if at all it's possible!). Please offer your advices and directions.
