Any tips for a newcomer?

Hello everyone!

I'm currently living in Vietnam and working as a Project Manager for an online computer game company. In a few months, I'm getting married and I'll be moving to Doha.

Will you please give me any tips on:

1. What documents are needed to be brought to Qatar in case I decide to work to help my husband?

2. Safety tips? I've been to other countries but as I research about Qatar I noticed some comments about safety for women. What are the Do's and Don'ts for women living in Qatar? Do women really get harrassed over there?

3. What do you guys do for fun? What do you do for R&R? Is it fun in Qatar?

4. Gyms and beauty salons. Are they expensive?

Thanks in advance for your tips! Greatly appreciated! ^_^

Hi smoke! ^_^ Have I been hiding? Uhmn... I don't think so. I've been in other forum topics as well.

Am I a hardcore gamer? I'm not sure. But I do play games at least 5 hours a day (That's healthy gaming according to Chinese and Vietnamese Law. No one is allowed beyond 5 hours). I like MMOs mostly but I also enjoy stand alone games on my PSP.

I'm not bringin' my rig to Qatar but my husband-to-be did promise he'll get me a new one! ^_^ I can bring some games for the LAN party. What do you play? Wait... Are men and women allowed to be in the same venue? If yes, do I need to bring my husband? Sorry if I sound like a total Ignoramus but I'm just very careful not to offend anybody in here...

To ksarat16: Yes of course! That would be nice. ^_^ New friends are always welcome! \o/

To the girls: I hope to hear from you too! ^_^

I'm sorry but... May I know what makes me seem unreal? And what do posers do in this forums? Why do they have to be posers? What do they get from it?

My apologies. I'm beginning to feel out of place. I don't understand the reactions I am getting. *points to medo_Dubai*

I'm just being sociable and asking for tips to learn more about Qatar.

Here goes...

1.What documents are needed to be brought to Qatar in case I decide to work to help my husband? I would say, your experience certificates, and your references, and before all that you must get your Resident Permit here...and only then you are permitted to work in Qatar under your Husband's sponsorship...

******

2. Safety tips? I've been to other countries but as I research about Qatar I noticed some comments about safety for women. What are the Do's and Don'ts for women living in Qatar? Do women really get harrassed over there?

Well this is for the women to answer...normally I wouldn't think that it is toooo big a problem however here...

***************

3. What do you guys do for fun? What do you do for R&R? Is it fun in Qatar?

Well, there are a wee bit of recreational activities here in Qatar, shopping, malls, health clubs, and ofcourse we at QL do meet up occassionally for having a bit of fun...there is a bit of stuff sailing, surfing, you could head to the dunes...

***********

4. Gyms and beauty salons. Are they expensive? Gyms, health club memberships are not too much on the higher side...they are decent...beauty salons, again ladies would need to answer that...

guess this gives you a bit of understanding...

Anything else...let know..

Cheers...

medo_Dubai: Sorry but you misunderstood. I'm asking you guys what you do for fun. I meant recreational activities. I am not looking for fun with guys. If I am, I wouldn't be getting married.

Also, I'm not looking for an analysis of what kind of questions I am asking. ^_^ I'd just like some tips please? That's all.

Thanks in advance! ^_^

Hi daiwai!

Having no beer around will be easy for me. However, I do like to have a taste of other types of spirits once in a while. I guess this means I won't find them in convenience stores? *chuckles* I can live with that. Thanks for checking my blog out! *grins*

...and you look like the kind of person that won't have any touble mixing (btw that Adelle Atkins song is one of my current favourites)....I have found though, that its very easy to get into the routine of shopping at one of the three main malls and then just going home, Dont expect to hang out in bars with a few beers, except for the hotels I have not been able to find any.

If you're living life on the edge, you've got too much room.

Bond 007 we will disregard your message.

I am moving there as well in a couple of months.  I'm sure there are fun things to do..if you've got friends and money.  Like anywhere else in the world.
