MagicDragon is right in saying that New Zealand is not a part of any continent.

By anonymous• 24 Oct 2009 10:46
anonymous

eagle, I gave only a geographic classification. There are seven continents. Each person on Earth lives on either one. Arabia is part of the Asian continent. New Zealand is part of Australia and Oceania.

New Zealand is not considered part of a continent. It is considered part of Oceania but that is an area definition not a continent....

Erm.. isn't this Middle East Asia? Of course, Asians get respect!

It's also how one carries oneself - with integrity and confidence, not arrogance.

MagicDragon said "The geographic border are the Ural mountains, brit. Anybody East of it is Asian, anybody West of it is European."

Ok.. so Kiwis are Asians?

All these people that are pretending it is a "give and take" or that all people respect asian must have thier head buried deeply in the sand. Asians here in Doha are treated as 2nd class in the workplace and outside. Even those that hold western passports are discriminated against. I often have to step in when someone or some business is trying to give my gf the run around and it's like night and day how they treat me as opposed to her on her own. The other day we went to a friend's hose in w bay and the guards just le t me in, no questions asked but when she arrived they asked for 2 forms of ID and presistantly asked her if she was Chinese. I don't appreciate my gf being treated as if she was a prostitute and i dont see this happening with people from many other regions.

I dont mean to have such strong opinion about this but if you cant see the glaring facts that asians get less respect, rights, pay... then you are a lost casue. Open your eyes, this is obvious!

Respect is give and take - when its between individuals .

A common attitude of the society towards a particular race cannot be give and take. There are descriminations, those who dont agree are blind.

It is also my opinion after living couple of years in south eastern Asia that the religion made us, EU+ancillaries, one of the most aggressive part of population. But on the other hand it creates the environment for a permanent explosive development (social, politic, economic and of course military).

Culturally speaking there is a huge difference between lets call it Caucasian and Asian goals.

I always said to my EU friends: it is very difficult to understand the Asian culture (at least in only couple of years). You have to accept it!

But again, EU culture was developed on the basis of conquest and not acceptance.

I have a "theory" regarding the biggest personalities of the history: those figures, like Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon, Victoria etc. were amongst the most tolerant people of their time.

So, back to subject, any open minded people will respect the human being and not the race, colour, sex, religion....

I like to say that I respect anyone who respect me. ("innocence assumption" is applied only for the first meeting)

I am in China right now. I have been here many times and enjoy China very much. When I see things from here I can't help thinking that Christians, Jews, and Muslims all have a big problem inside their heads. This is the only part of Asia I know but I admire many things about China. I think most Asian people are better people than Westerners most of the time. Again I think it's the Western religions (Jews, Christians and Muslims) that has made us terrible people to live with. I must exclude myself, of course, as I am an atheist and proud my ancestors were African apes.

Most of Russia is in Asia so the answer would be yes.

Gulf Arabs don't like to be considered Asians though but renaming and the revisionist way of history is tried all the time...... Persian Gulf has been rebranded the Arabian Gulf by some countries...

sandee, it is a geographic nomenclature. Not even a historic one, and definitively not a racial one. Arabs are Semites and some are Hamites (the darker ones). The Semites are considered an Asian race, the Hamites an African race.

By anonymous• 23 Oct 2009 19:46

Actually they have been trying to distinguish Arabia after the discovery of oil, Before that they were very happy to be called Asians.. This is from the history that I read which may or may not be true, so I will be happy if someone contradicts me...
