National day is finished. Lots of people think this year was different.
Share with us, how did you enjoy it yesterday? Was it great? What you do/where did u go?
One thing I noticed. Most of the places in Qatar always in good-clean condition. But sadly, it's only because of cleaners did their job very well. The civic awareness isn't that level yet in Qatar.
Dunno where u live, but in all honestly I truly doubt that....But in any case u know there's a hotline u can call to report any leftover garbage and get it cleaned up right away....and it's available YEAR ROUND
Actually, I'm still stepping over some trash left from National Day - at least I'm assuming the flags that were dumped are from National Day celebrations.
If u've been to any good NFL games u would know Qatar's National Day doesn't even come close in comparison, Hell I've even been to hockey game that left behind more Garbage the National Day!!!
Can u imagine sports games that leave behind more damage than a day where the WHOLE country celebrates!!! But u usually don't notice cuz u enjoy the game so much!!!
More importantly....did u find ANY leftovers or garbage on the road the next morning??? No? Now that's some impressive S*** ;-) Kudos to Qatar for celebrating hard then recovering harder!!!!
one thing I certainly did not do this year was to arrive at the airport on national day. I did this last year and it took me 4 hours to get out of the airport. Not a single taxi could come inside. Nightmare !
Met some bachelors in the morning who were not allowed to go to the park side as entry to that side was restricted to families (I was told). I did watch the parade on TV as I felt it is much better to watch it like that than going to the cornich where I will not get the full view.
I was able to go in the evening to watch the fire works.
even the bachelors were not allowed to enter anyhwere near the parade ground early morning. Its sad that all weekends and special days bachelors are not allowed to participate in any events
Extremely reckless traffic! Much worse than usual. The way everyone, especially Qataris trash their own Country is pathetic. The amount of trash is horrible, and especially on their National Day! I think is so disrespectful of their own country.
Yesterday afternoon was watching the colourful cars flowing on the street in wakra, saw an accident happening live ! A 4WD came in full speed, and went on to hit the saloon car in front of him, pushing him further ahead. Could not see what happened after that as my kid was with me, just prayed that non one is hurt. Celebrations or not reckless driving in never an excuse !
Unfortunately the patriotism and pride demonstrated by the parades, displays, activities, fire works etc. does not extend to actually keeping the country clean. The amount of garbage thrown aside at all these venues is astounding and disgusting.
Mabruk Qatar on your National Day (a day late) - too bad there are so many who have no respect for helping to keep a clean environment.
hi guys... it was so great and so much fun while we are walking towards to corniche actually my first time and i really enjoy specially when the fire works start till the end its amazing experience.

I preferred to stay at home and enjoy with family.I can't forget trapped in traffic jam last year!

Why all the negativity? Chillax people!
They were just teens expressing their pride and love for their country.

Best to avoid all the celebrations and have a quiet personal day at home !
Caught a movie though and the malls were so empty, it was great
I did not go any where because it was disappointment for last tow years, only face problem and not managed crowed every where , reckless driving

Marycatherine I second you on that, also the violation of traffic laws on the National Day is also very concerning!

I excitedly went to the balcony to see the fireworks and realised that it faces the wrong way :O(
Still I m not recovered from that magical moments, that I never seen before..awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We went to see the evening fireworks at the Corniche and watched the morning parade on TV.
The break sure was great. Oh but I did watch the fireworks display...from my balcony!
