Yet another question about a salary.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask if an offer of around 2000QR would be decent for a single noob worker (no exp) at St. Regis and what about their conditions? They provide accommodation in one of their compounds that have 4 bedrooms in one house and two men per room, 3 meals per day and free transport from and to work 24/7. The compounds it is said to have all the utilities (don't know about the internet).
The question is whether this is a bad offer and you can't do anything with the money or it's an okish offer. Very good I know it's not.
Also, does anyone know about where should that compound be? They said it's at about 10 minutes by car from the hotel.
Thank you in advance!
Maybe if everything is ok, and I'll be there by next month, we'll meet for a drink or something. :)
To sTrangR: Don't worry, it's not some local company. As I've said, it's for one of the best hotel chains.
Also, I've done my research and I know what you're talking about.
Thank you for the heads up anyway. :)
You've all been very helpful
be careful before joining any company , Once your visa is approved and if your company is some local rubbish sponsor then you will be a victim of his arrogance . Labor rules are meaning less .
Wish you all the best!
Hi, thank you for your answer. No, I don't really have any obligations. Just me in my mid 25's. I would probably send some money to my family at some point, but that is not why I want to leave.
Mostly I want to gain experience in a great multicultural environment, to meet new people and open new doors. But I also don't want to be poor while doing this :P
No, it's actually 2000QR minimum. It's actually somewhere between 550$ and 700$.
Yea, well as I said, it might not be a good offer, but a decent one. Depends where you come from... lol.
I mean decent living in Bulgaria is not quite decent in Sweden for example.
So I believe from what answers I got so far and what I've read around here, 2000-2500 might actually fulfill the expectation of a modest living standard, but nothing more.
That doesn't mean I don't aspire to more than that.
Thanks Joeshumai also for your point of view. I know you might be right, I'll think of it. :)
If you don't have much liabilities back home then 2000/- as a pocket money is fine!
Yes, I think you all did. Thank you everyone. I didn't really expect such fast and precise answers. :)
Nice to see such great people over here. If at least 50% of Doha is like this, I think I'll like it quite alot if I'll relocate there. :D
Best wishes to everyone!
Around 2000 gives me the impression that the offer is even below 2000 it self, and for me, with or without the facilities mentioned , 2000 is not enough at all.
u need atleast "atleast" 3500 to survive.
but then again, there are people living with the salary of 750QR and saving too. but the living conditions of such individuals are better not to be spoken out.
choice is urs and totally depends on what job u will be doing!
i think they've answered your query sufficiently... the salary being ok, as you know, really depends on the person... this is too small for someone who's getting huge... but good enough for someone who's getting lesser...
anyway, since you said you are single and live modest lifestyle, it should be enough... i dont know about the gap and h&m stuff... you can buy during sale season... or once in a while, won't hurt... :)
also maryam said it right, many people are looking for jobs here, it's not easy to find one...
Thank you very much Maryam. :)
@Baburao-Ganpatrao-Apte: Didn't really understood what you said. My first question was whether this was a decent okish offer or not. And it was posted in: Forums›Working in Qatar›Salary and Allowances. This is where all the salary questions are and I thought this would be the right place.
Thank you for all your prompt, sincere and helpful answers. :)
its a good salary for a single guy. they give you housing and transport so all you need to buy is your own food. for a single guy , you can save with this salary! its good so take the job. many people are lookng for jobs..
what was ur first question n was it posted in Q & A section
Well I will need to study the contract closely. But this is what they promised and I wanted to document myself first. Also they said that the salary will be renegotiated after 6 months.
Also I don't smoke and don't drink too often. Not really the going out type (but I like to visit especially museums and such), so you think I should be about ok. Are the malls expensive? Not luxury products, just ordinary H&M or GAP or something. Just to make an idea whether I can buy stuff with that salary.
Thank you very much again. :)
As they are providing you home, food, travel and other facilities..u can save the whole 2000 if u want..lets say even if u spent 500 for entertainment u r saving 1500 QR..
May be other mistaken it as the whole salary without benefits.
At this time I don't work, but I did work and the salaries here are quite small also. Most of the time, entry-levels vary around 300$ and they don't offer anything else more than that. I kept reading the forum and 550$ or 600$ seems fair for a noob, but the opinions on this seem to be different. Some say that you can't live with 2500QR and some say it's acceptable.
That's why I decided to create another topic and ask.
P.S. Sorry for creating it twice. Didn't realize that save meant to create it.
For a worker with food home travel it is fine...if possible you negotiate it a little more..
It also depends on how much you are earning now..as a worker u can get paid for OT as well..
