Working for Qatar Airways - Salary Inquiry

ianmin
By ianmin

i am a filipino and got accepted as a senior reservation agent for qatar airways. the contract signing will be on tuesday (march 18). currently, i don't have a benchmark as to what could be an ideal salary for the position. the compensation package will of course be discussed on tuesday but it may be that we won't be given enough time to decide so i am seeking help in this forum. Smile

anybody here who has an idea of the salary range for senior reservation agent in QR? what salary would be "enough" to have a decent life in qatar and still allow me to save up up at the same time? what are the things that i have to look out for or be careful about before signing the contract?

your comments will be very much appreciated.Cool

TIA!

Hi ianmin,

The offer you receive does not surprise me since I know someone in the same grade receiving a similar salary. Nevertheless, bargaining for a few hundreds more is worth a try.

QR is a good company with regards to benefits and all..but you could get a better salary working in another company in doha. However, one thing that really compensates for things is that the accomodations are way better than what other companies offer.  You should negotiate. You have a right to ask for more..even if that's just 500-1000 that would go a long way already in helping you save...

good luck!

i guess that's their standard offer for such a position. yes it's not enough, i think receptionists from some schools get double. anyway let me give you a breakdown. if i were to receive the same package here's what i'd do :

 1000  send back home

 600    groceries (150 a week)

 500    transpo

500    allowance (internet, call cards, etc)

 420    savings

again, it's just me, i don't go out that much and it also depends on how much you need to send back home. goodluck!

i already got the contract offer, quite disppointing actually...

salary: 2600

transpo: 350

laundry: 70

total is QAR3020. Accommodation is free.

is this enough for me to survive and save up something to send back home? what are the other possible expenses and how much, do i have to consider?

hi working_mom,

i have no idea about salary grade structure, care to expound further? thanks.

hopefully here's a company accommodation, that's one less thing to worry about.

You are in  Grade 4 but ask them if they will provide you a company accommodation.  Some of the resa agents are now staying in the accommodation provided by QR.

@deadlydesi, they will be giving us the contract offer on tuesday but i'm not really sure if we will be given enough time to think things over, i'm afraid we will have to decide right then and there. that's just the basic salary i assume? i mean, transpo, living allowance, etc are not yet included?

thanks, i really need the good luck wish, i have read here not-so-good comments about the company.

@Eco-savvy, is public trasnportation a problem if the job is 24/7?

thanks for your prompt answers!
