Transportation Allowances - I feel like I have been tricked
Hello Everyone,
I feel like I have been tricked. When I was negotiating with my boss regarding the package. I asked him to revise my offer and include the transportation in the contract. He agreed and added a "transportation will be provided by the company for official purpose". After I came here he says it’s not company policy to provide transportation to go home and come to office.
In my previous company transpiration used to be providing car allowance and I used to get 1500 QAR as car allowance plus petrol. But here they are not even giving petrol allowance as my work is mostly to work from office. And if you do not have a car company used to take care of pickup drops.
Anyhow now I have my car and at times they ask me to go to site for site survey but do not even pay me for petrol for that as well.
I had also asked for intensives as the salary they were offering me was less than the previous employer in Qatar. and I thought if I will get transportation plus petrol plus insensitive I can make more than previous job but now I ended up getting less now.
now I feel I cannot do anything, I left my previous company for this offer.
Please let me know what action I can take without risking my job.
If you are still in probation and if your RP is not stamped in your passport you can resign or end your contract with three days notice and go to your home country and come back immediately for a new company.
I have to agree with wild turkey
Another company which should be named and shamed . Sadly , there are too many of these types around . You have signed the contract and are now stuck. Are you willing to stand up and fight knowing that you might lose your job. ?
I'd rather have a Trade Union in Qatar which installs minimum wages, a regular salary increase to cope with inflation, and a social security network paid brotherly by the company and the employee. But I guess this would be too modern for Qatar. Labor Laws in Qatar are stone-age laws.
wow, you left your old job for the 20 ryal petrol to your site surveys, its not all about money, id rather have a nice boss and get paid less then a disrespectful boss and get paid more, jeeeeez.
Arjun: All companies have their own set of rules, regulations and policies and no two companies are the same. If you believe you should have been given better terms at this new company, you should have had everything spelled out in writing before accepting the offer. At this stage, you have only one choice: Take it or Leave it.
Brother i feel you you are getting very less in exchange of your Jobs, this company which you just in seems a Bakheel(Misery) management, there are two options left for you...Either you take strong actions regarding these issues with management as why to loose from your pocket or sell your car...best of luck
