Thinking of moving to Qatar
Hello all,
My fiancé and I are thinking of moving to Qatar after we get married, around the end of the year.
I don't know what to expect, so I can't quite decide whether we should go or not. I have looked up information, but it didn't get me much closer to being able to take a decision, since all the websites give different information.
I am a Swedish girl, 25, with BA in English and Japanese. I will be doing distance online studies for my master in Communication in Development part-time. I want to work full-time at the same time. I speak Swedish, English, Japanese and Farsi. Work experience is English teaching in Japan (1 year), Fashion sales assistant (1 year) and Fashion merchandising (1 year, my own company).
Teaching is not an option. Interesting jobs would be in communication, NGO, translation, merchandising, fashion, PR, journalism fields
I don't know if I can expect to get a job at all, and in that case what sort of salary I should expect.
The only reason I want to come to Qatar is being able to pay back student loans and saving for backpacking trips. We have pretty modest lifestyles. I shop clothes once to twice a year (preferably on sales), go to cafe once or twice a week, and restaurant once or twice a week. I'm not a big eater either.
So my biggest question is how much I could save, because that determines if it's worth it or not for me to go.
Thank you!
Harlekini I am also curently in Egypt :)after living in Doha for almost an year, so I understand clearly hahaha
about your job there are many sites that you could search and upload your CV for the contractors to see you .for example : http://www.catererglobal.com but there are many others in which you could look.
about the salaries I am not sure because it's all depending on your experience in the field you want to apply.
so my advice to you is to make up your mind in regards to what you want to know about the country, life style and especially the job you want to have here and then apply for jobs , etc.
I would apply for jobs if I was looking for one atm.
I may be wrong, but It seems to me that you are advertising yourself for a job, rather than worrying about savings or costs.
Good luck. Hope it works out,
Thank you :)
i am just joking , good luuck and wish u the best
one_shot: I guess I should take that as a joke, since it was rather uncalled for.
frez.joe: I am living in Egypt right now, so I'm quite used to traffic jams so to speak hehe. I know what to expect culture-wise, just not job-wise. I'd like to know if it's worth relocating, since I could be making other plans otherwise. Thank you.
One_shot Lol!!! Doha Qatar is a commercial country ,,, it's better searching job by your self while visiting here, we cannot tell exactly which kind of job u could find here, it's depend on you, so Welcome to Doha Qatar, but u will run away coz of upcoming traffic jam, maybe worst than china,,, Note- here it's really , really different environment than your country even far away from japan
.
please don't , it is already crowded here , pleaaaaaaaase :P
I forgot to mention, that I have also studied 1.5 years Fashion design&technology in Japan.
Thank you all!
