Hello I was looking to ask for some advice on a job offer I was just presented. It is for a Computer system Administrator position. The offer is 24,000QR per month, with paid living accommodation and car. Also will receive a 5% extra pay allowance and free flight back to the U.S. every year. Also I am not married but have a fiance and a daughter that I would like to bring along. Would that be enough to support them and pay for an American school for my daughter to attend? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Good, Ohio, sounds like you're on the right track. I wish you luck! (I'm about 60 miles from Ohio at this very moment!)

First I would like to thank everyone for the replies and great information. @silverstar I will be thinking over the move and how we can make it work. Knowing this now we might have to get married before leaving and have our wedding during a vacation back home. @Mandilulur Yes she is my daughter and I will now be asking for her school to be paid for which will help out alot. Also I will be asking for more money as this is not even close to 25% more than I make here and I have heard that I should command that percentage more than I make here and you saying that has set it in my head. Thanks.

The offer is good as you will be getting free accommodation which is the main expensive commodity in Qatar. First check with the HR department if you child is covered for school fees. School are very expensive as well. Your HR status should be family even as a single parent. If you don’t’ apply for this then you probably won’t get the family status benefit from the company. For example children school fees, medical insurance etc. Check out the fees of the American school for estimates.

As for the fiancé , it would be better to get married to bring her on the family visa. Otherwise she can stay as a visitor for maximum 6 months. And renter Qatar for another 6 months.

check the enormous school fees here, most schools show them on their websites - confirm the housing details - many people survive here on much less but it depends on your frame of reference and lifestyle - may be enough, but you need to sort out the fiance\marriage\family thing.

If you are not married, you can not bring your Fiance and daughter on family visa. Even if he comes on his personal visa, without marriage both of you can not stay together as per Qatar law. Both of you can be prosecuted and deported back. So please think it all over again.

If you are not married you will be given "single" housing. The flight, medical and vacation are by Qatari law. So I would not say your employer is being overly generous yet. Is it more than you are getting in Ohio? By at least 25% before housing is taken into account?

Is it your daughter? You would need to ask your employer for family status if you have a dependent. And for school tuition which is breathtakingly expensive. Please understand that there is no way you can get your child into an American school at this point. If it is not your daughter than you cannot sponsor her or her mother. Or even live with your fiancé here. Your salary is OK but nothing to whoop about.
