Is salary of 17000 QAR per month plus accomodation (fully furnished appartment with all amenities) plus car a fair offer for a position requiring a degree in engineering and min 10 years of experience? I have wife and 2 children age 3 and 9. I would like to bring them with me. Country of origin Australia. Is that enough for comfortable living for not excentric family? Thanking you

Thanks Elios, so you sugest that I go back to them and say that I will accept the offer, if they change the status from single to married? Well they should take that as positive point since they would have more stability and tendency for renewal my contract after one year, if I am there with my family...

If your status is single dont agree this is bad because you know on you agreement you must see writen on it married or you will lose all allowance given for married man be carful with this because agreement for single is different .

Hello,

This salary will be challenging . The reason is since your status is single, if you're paying airfare for your family, you have spend lots of money (cosider the moving cost also). Also for the education it will be way to expensive if you want to send your children to a good school. A good school can cost you QR40000 - QR.55000 /year. Infact, the housing allowance you are going to get , is not a good one. A decent 3 bedroom flat will cost you around QR10,000/month+ and for a villa QR15000-QR16000/month. But, if you get a family status with the family airfare, I guess your offer is OK.

Good luck!!

Not a very good offer, If you are planning to bring your family, do not accept bachelor status jobs otherwise you will have to take care of everything from your pocket for the family, like their ticket, medical, Resident Permit etc.. You can live an average life style. ..you wont get much to save.

If your wife is also planning to work soon....then you can manage.

The car is fully maintained and given by the company also I get the medical insurance etc. The status is single, no allowances for my family, however they are happy for me to bring my family with me and are supportive of that idea. Either I accept they accomodation or I can find my own and they pay up to 9500 QAR/ month.

The car is given or is car loan being offered? One more question is education for your kids also included in the offer, I mean is there education allowance for your kids? If it is then I would consider in taking the offer since it's a good one. If the eductaion expenses for your kids is not included then that would a be an issue since eductaion here in Qatar is quite expensive.

Also and in the end I would suggest to you to go through the following link in which living expenses are somehow described/analyzed and some other comments are made.
