Hi,

I have 20 years of expereince in fincace (oil and gas sector) and recently have been offered a job in one of the reputable oil an gas company in Doha. I am from the UK and a british passport holder.

The base is 27,000QAR (plus housing+car+education+air tickets).

Can you please help me understand if this is a good salary for western expat or can I demand higher range (35,000 - 45,000)?

I have a family with 2 kids.

Appreciate help

Many thanks

Hi Ruko,

Do you manage to get the salary that you wanted? What is the final offer?

I would like to use it as reference for my application.

Thank you

Did you mean experience in Finance ? Its hard to respond to your query since salary offers depends on job level within the organization, role offered, peer salary ranges within the company and current market conditions. Not sure of the above in your case, so most responses can only be guess work based on personal beliefs, which may not be right. Perhaps if you can articulate enough on some of the above, this could be answered.

You should definitely ask for health insurance cost to be covered, too.

The being offered is a good one. Since the company is taking care of most of your major expenses, you'll hardly get to spend much. If you live a normal life, you may get to spend QR 5000 at the most on your expenses. This of course depends on your style of living. As for demanding a higher salary, it is all up to your negotiating skills. But I believe the company may not yield to your demand as the package itself is a pretty good one.
