Salary Expectation for Canadian Chartered Accoutant wishing to relocate to Qatar
By amerjavedcpa •
I am a Chartered Accoutant from Canada. I am a finance director (reporting directly to the CFO of the local canadian subsidiary) at a major international european bank. I have 8 years of work experience under my belt. Prior to this, I worked at one of the big four audit firms as an auditor. I am also a US Certified Public Accountant.
I want to relocate to Qatar and work in a bank. What sort of a package should I reasonably expect? I am 31 years of age, and have a Canadian passport. I would like to come in at a senior management position -- one or two levels down from the CFO.
Thanks for your help.
Amer
I am also on CDN passport, considering a move to Doha. I have a family of 4, and an offer close (I expect). I did some budget planning, and made a spreadsheet of expected costs, posted in here and people on this forum by and large seem to think it's pretty accurate.
Try a search under "ahasnain" (my login name) then click on the first link you see, there should be a spreadsheet attached. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Above the 50k mark...sounds about right.....how much you save depends on your particulars (how many kids....which schools you want to send them to....spending discipline.....savings goals, etc...).
Good luck amerjavedcpa.
Stay safe.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
my son goes to Doha English Speaking School ... majority mostly british (kids and teachers).
which school does your son go to? what is the nationality of most of the students? teachers?
do the math ...
housing independent villa not in a compound will cost you min QR 15.000
my son goes to english speaking school (one of the best in Doha) QR 7500 a term ( fees go up yearly at least by 10 percents).
any other expenses hopefully the rest can fill it in.
I have an offer for QR 55,000 per month (all inclusive of base, accomodation, car/driver allowance, air tickets for family, kids education etc) + 40% annual bonus. Is this a good offer for a position one or two levels below the CFO? More importantly, roughly what percentage of the QAR 55K/month can be saved after paying for all living costs including schooling, accomodation, utilities, groccery, gas, clothing etc etc?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks

u want to come in as senior management.......u need to be senior enough on that..........then you should know where to look for such senior jobs...not walk in as u know very well...
factor in all the issues...passport....CPA...8 yrs....bla bla....and tax free...allowances....i think u can expect all-in package of CAD 15,000 ? of to value...............may be down to CAD 12000 in a year time looking at the negative side of the USD and the positive end of the local inflation..
guess u'd done your home works !!
if you cannot take it, leave it !!
Find a job first and then discuss your expectations for senior management with your new employer. Many good jobs go through word of mouth or through rectruitment agencies.
If you try to get yourself hired localy you will be on the lowest salary bracket with no accommodation and might end up sitting behind the counter counting riyals.
Sorry to tell you this but if you are not hired from abroad it means they are not desperately looking for you.
Hope you are not overqualified, but seriously if there are institutions looking for someone of your qualifications it would be a big package, 50k plus i'd hazard a guess.
Best of luck, and stay safe.
