I have been offered a job as Electrical engineer for oil & gas company in Doha, what they have offered is 25000 QR (5000 euros) a month full package they say it is all included. Can somebody advise is this ok? What is the cost of living in Doha is this amount enough to live on and save money. I will need a flat/villa (wife+4 kids) as well as car, bills, medical and my flights.

Wow, that a very good offer. Good for you and your family. Isn't it that most oil&gas companies has a housing package for their employees? Isn't it that you can get the money for housing allowance if you choose to rent your own villa? Did you ask your company for the details regarding your package. Probably, this should not be a problem.

How much annual bonus promised ?

if you are on secondment, they should support you with your initital expenses as well as your cover your flights, medical and schooling.

your main monthly expenses will be:

accomodation: 8K 3BR/ fully furnsihed apt

transportatio: 2K to 4K; get a 4x4 on lease or rent

food/utlities: 2K to 4K; it all depends on ur lifestyle

childern education: an X amount/year

medical/flights/annual bonus should be covered by the firm.

I personally believe 25K is pretty decent salary, and you'll do just fine in Doha.

its not like, they'll rob you out of your salary.

believe me you'll be able to save above 8K/month.

btw i dnt know about your experience and nationality .. based on which you could exercise your right of re-negotiation.

however, contentment and satisfaction lies all in oneself and not around anywhere.

It's low as you need to negotiate with them for housing and company maintained vehicle.

I found a Fully Furnished 5 bedroomw/ Maidsroom Standalone Villa for 10,000QAR. I think you find something less than 12000. For a Car, its better renting, so something happens, you can return and get a new one. If you are in to Husky vehicles like GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe or Nissan Armada. Its better to rent per 6 month to 1 year contract. I think its way more reasonable to do grocery every weekend and buy less stuff. You save money and won't gain weight (Thats how I think). So total budget:

Flat/Villa: 10000 to 12000

SUV for Rent: 5500 to 7000

Weekly Grocery: 1000 to 2000

If have another home in originated country: 5000 to 6000

Overall Salary: 21500 to 27000-(Over your Salary)

So its better to keep your budget low so in that way, you can save money and lead a happy life in Doha :)!
