FinanceManager
By FinanceManager

I currently make $60/year in the US. Plus benefits and a pension. Total $85K/year. Boring and dead job, but secure.

Married with 2 infants.

Got offered
QR30,000 per month plus medical benefits for me and my family. Annual flights home. 30 days vacation/year. 3 year contract

I have to pay for housing, transport and school (kids are still infants)..

Recruiter said no one here or the UAE pays more than this right now due to the number and quality of the candidates already available.

About me - Born and raised in he U.S. Fluent in English and Arabic. Holds 2 business degrees from here with 10 years finance experience. No CPA or CFA.

I been searching for a bit over 1 week so far and this is my first solid offer. Should I request more or just pass on it?

Finance Managers are paid 30K basic and the company will provide you either a villa or a decent appartment with facilities and a vehicle. In addition, to school funding. It's a very low offer, wait you'll get better ones. Good luck

Way too low, as Mandi has already stated, should include housing, schooling, flight allowance and healthcare.

For a Senior Manager, you should get somewhere in the range of 30K basic, with a villa and car. Besides that, you should get full reimbursement on school fees (sometimes only upto a certain limit) and annual Business Class tickets for the entire family with 35 days annual leave.

I think the offer is way too LOW for a Managerial position considering that it covers everything already. The cost of living here in Qatar is one of the highest within the region.

Why don't you try the Oil and Gas sector? They will surely give you a better offer. With free accommodation, free school for up to 4 children, car financial assistance, life and medical insurance, ect ect ect.... All the best on your job hunting!

Not good. Only consider offers that come with housing and school fees. That is standard. Remember, you still have to pay US taxes.

It's a Qatar Development company. I'd be working under the CFO.

for a decent house you will have to pay 10 to 12 K plus car expense 2 - 3 k

so u r left with basic of around 15 K only.

Finance managers are paid more than that and good candidates are still not in huge qty available.

I know people getting 35 to 40 K as basic only in this position, followed by company provided accommodation, car etc

you will also have to confirm which industry and type of company that position is in?
