with kids and a family... your life in Qatar is going to cost at 8000 to 10000 ryals a month.. that's if you want to live comfortably and happily...

I would say push and negotiate a little bit more, but don't lose them.. the fixed for 3 years is not uncommon.. but usually you renew!

Friends thanks for your valuable inputs.

1) Please note, schooling shall be provided by company.

2) No-one has commented on the fixed basic for 3 years definite contract, can anyone tell me whether Definite contract with Fixed Basic for 3 years is Normal offer made to Expatriate?

3) I am tragetting saving upto 8000 to 10000 Riyal/month is it possible with 16000 basic?

Bye

@Alladin2022 - If it is so, good for QG and good for its employees

Mech Engg. with 15 years experience is too low even if you are Indian (Asian = 2nd Class may be even 3rd class).

At least you should get 25K/Month.

my 2 cents - QR 16000/month is what we will talk about(forget about the allowance for now). A person with your experience in core O&G sector commands a minimum of QR 25000 upwards. You are being shortchanged just because you are from India. Go on a negotiation overdrive since this is a definite contract. It is more difficult to negotiate when contracts are open-ended.

How much is your housing allowance? A good comfy place for you and family will set you back anywhere between 6000-9000 for a 3bhk apartment or 10000-12000 for a villa.

You really need to find out for sure if kids edu is paid for, else you won't have a penny left in your wallet

If you are working for an O&G PSU in India, I would suggest you think deep before making this move. Don't consider moving here if there is a marginal-moderate increase in actual take-home pay.

Finally, once again, don't ever undersell yourself. Capitalize on your knowledge and experience and go where your worth is recognized. Good luck.
