Gud day. I was offered basic of 4500QR + 2000QR for allowances that says accomm/transportation/food. The offer also say a free ticket Doha-Manila at the end of one year.
There was no mention about paid leave, extra month or gratuity pay (13th) or any bonuses. It also didn't mention about the medical benefits in case i got sick or would need medical services while in Qatar. Is the offer just that or the others (i.e., paid leave, medical, etc.) are the regular benefits and need not to be emphasize in the offer sheet.
I am civil engineer (structural designer) and holding a supervisorial in a government agency here in the Philippines. My would-be-employer and just-in-case-I-accept it is an architectural firm in Doha (I would not mention the company name) requires me to authenticate all my documents pertaining to my degree and professional license so I would be registered there in Qatar.

This is my first time to work abroad. I would appreciate your comments and advice on this matter. Thank you. And I need to decide soon.

THINK TWICE !!!!  BECAUSE THE EMPLOYMENT OFFER WOULD STATE EVERYTHING , THEY SHOULD PROVIDE YOU WITH FOOD, TRANSPO, MEDICAL ,VISA AND IT SHOULD BE WRITTEN UNDER THE QATAR LABOR LAW FOR THE LEAVE ,BENEFITS AND ETC. AND MONTHLY SALARY IS VERY LOW, YOU HAVE TO DISCUSS MORE,  THE FOOD ALONE FOR GROCERY EVERY MONTH IS 2000 ALONE FOR ONE/TWO PERSON, WHAT ABOUT THE RENT AND TRANSPO, DAMN! ITS A CRAPPY OFFER

I am an User Interface Designer (Web/Graphic/GUI) and am offered a job with 11000 Qatar Riyals. Is that fair Compensation for a month to live a decent life in Qatar?

How much will cost for rental, food, transportation and other things?

Can i get any idea/advice on this?

  Thanks & Regards

I am no expert on Qatari labour law - however usually certain entitlements are implied into an employment contract by operation of law (a fancy way of saying because the law says so) - i.e the labour law states that certain employees are entitled to a certain amount of sick and annual leave (however employers and employees can contract for greater benefits then the minimum). So in short if your contract is silent the minimum applies.

I am quite sure this is the case in relation to these two benefits (sick and annual L) but I am unsure as to how much the entitlement is.

However this being said, you have to look at more importantly at wheather the offer in and of its self is worthwhile.

Cheers

Yes the offer is quiet low for your position. Try to negotiate for more. Also ask them about future promotions and increases if there are. Medical benefits and bonus are not standard but depends on company policy. Gratuity and paid leave is a must under Qatari Labor law. But you have to factor the 'cost of living' here. It's quiet expensive. No such thing as COLA over here. So, if 2K is lump sum for accommodation/transpo/food, this is not enough. This place is not paradise and you can't just fly home as you like. If you're not in a hurry try to seek a better paying company. This is just a brotherly advise and I don't want you to regret later. Been here for quiet sometime, so more or less, my views are valid. I'm only giving you an idea but it's your deal if you still wanna proceed with the offer. Good luck!

If all your extras are in place.

Gosh sounds awfully low to me. With rising food costs these days. Rice in the uk has doubled in price thanks to pakistan and india refusing to export anymore for a while.

There was no mention about NOC in the offer sheet nor probation period instead it says that the contract will be for two years. They say that they have a ready-visa and and well I hope its work visa not other else. Mr. dracula can you give me information about other company where i could possibly get a better offer. Thank you for that.

And also another thing, I was already interviewed last week here and actually agreed to the figure but it is on my understanding that the accommodation will be provided and that other benefits were already standard (as in here in the Philippines like 13th month pay, medical although not much) and since we only discuss the salary and not anything else. Further to that, since a company in Doha had already interviewed and accept me (I just gave up after waiting for more than three months and still no news of my visa) citing that accommodation, paid leave, medical, 13th month and other bonuses will be paid, I presume its all the same.

Will there be any repercussion to me if I reject the offer sheet?

Thanks and regards to all.
