Please advice
I got an offer from Qatar University as a post-doctoral fellow. I'm from Singapore. I've just completed my degree and have no previous experience. They mentioned the basic salary will be QR 14000 with 3000 housing allowance and 1000 for tranportation (so total QR 18,000/month). I can understand from this forum that they offering me a very low housing allowance. What is the culture there? Should I burgain regarding the housing allowance? Do you think this is a decent salary? How much can I save from this. I'll be with my wife and like to stay in a single/double bed room appartments near the university area. I do not go to bar, but like to take food from outside once/twice in a week. I'll appreciate your response. Thank you all.
Thanks Phoenix and stone cold. I'm not sure whether they will provide me the university housing or not. If they dont, then how much will be the decent salary inclusive everything? Thanks again.
You will miss the typical chinese cookings here for a start. Negotiate for the increment in housing allowance and you should make it.
it's not enough, you should ask them to provide university accomodation. to my knowledge there are no appatments nearby university, only villas, which might start from QR10000.
Yalla!
