Offer with an American oil & gas company

Hi ppl,

I'm a Malaysian and has been offered by an American oil & gas company in Qatar as a Financial Analyst. I am an accountant by profession with 6/7 years of experiences in MNCs at home and currently earning close to QR10,000, upon conversion.

They has not reverted on the offer yet, but I understand that it should include:-

1. Basic salary (In USD or QR?)
2. Housing allowance
3. Medical allowance
4. Annual leaves of 27 days
5. Vacation travel (What is this? Air ticket back to home country?)
6. Education assistance for children (Not useful, I'm single)
7. Other benefits (Also dunno what are the components...sigh!)

Further, I was told that fellow Malaysians who works in oil & gas company in Middle East would be given an additional "Hardship Allowance", which is equivalent to 50%/60% of the basic salary. Don't know how true, kindly advise if anyone knows.

After much research, I plan to spend monthly QR5,500 on a 1 bedroom apartment, QR1,500 on a car and QR4,000 on food, peripherals, etc. While the remaining are my savings, if any (expecting to earn more in Doha).

Would appreciate if you guys could advise on what should I be expecting, plus, I don't even know what grade I am.

Thanks in advance!!

Your reply is very much helpful, you seems quite well verse with them...u work there as well? :)

Btw, could they employ me in Doha but not under the expat category?

If yes, what are the differences?

Does not matter whether in USD or QAR (pegged)

A decent f/f home in a decent location will cost approximately QAR 8000 to 12000 per month

annual leave must be working days, suggest 35 days

transport, vehicle alloance or car to be provided

annual flight! Try to nego for twice a year

hardship allowance, i think it is only applicable in KSA

one last piece, Qatar nice place to be but nothing beats malaysian lifestyle. especially the mamak food + the excellent chinese food + the nightlife...and the so humble cultured people
