I am an Electrical Engineer with 16 years experience and recently received an offer from an ENGINEERING CONSULTING COMPANY (Architects, Planners, Engineers). Below was the breakdown of the offer:

QR 13,500.00 - Basic
QR 5,000 - Accommodation Allowance
QR 2,000 - Transportation
QR 500 - Mobile

A total of QR 21,000 salary package.

Will I be able to survive living in Qatar with this salary?

Yes, 20K to 35K is the range you should be looking for. They are offering salary similar to about 5 years experience only. *Bunga*

u wont use public transport here, esp if ur with fmly..cos mostly everybody with fmly has/actually needs a car..i dont know bout the package according to your experience, but remember that a n apartment wud come to around 6-10k according to your space requirements..But its also true that the rental rates have been dropping of late..guess u shud bargain for more by way of housing..

if u look at the other side, there are many ppl with fmly here doing more than survive on ur pay package, but in the end it depends on ur spending habits/lifestyle..and the competitive payscales in your line of work here in doha..

Hi!

Salary varies based on the organisation, for engineering graduates with 16 years of experience total package will vary from 20K to 35K.

Public transport is not up to the mark.

All the best.

Bluemountain: Thanks!

Bunga: That's what I thought re: apartment 6-8k. I'm coming with my wife. What do you reckon should be the basic salary with my experience?

How's the public transport out there and their cost?

Hi Lucky,

You did not mention whether you are coming alone or with family. If purely on survival basis, definitely you can survive with that package. But if you are coming with family and a few kids, your accommodation allowance is on the low side, you will need at least QR 6-7K to get a good apartment.

With 16 years experience, I should think you can get a better deal than the basic salary offered.
