I have been offered a posting in Doha for managing the operational activities of a company. The employer is asking me to present my requirements in terms of salary and perks....What should I go for....job profile would be senior management category. I hear some scarry stories about accomodation in Doha.... Please advice....

take home salary, nothing less than 20k and make sure kids education + housing (decent home approx 14-15k)+ car paid for.

Inflation rate growing steadily over the last 2 years and Qatar hit double digit of 11.83% recently, so make sure you cover this during salary nego..all the best.

Really need schooling included - even pre-school is $$$$. Try to get a villa/apt provided not just money or you will most likely get screwed when your rent goes up...and it will.

many things.

Personally I would request upto QR15k for housing, if you have children you should factor in the school fees out here (they are not cheap), car allowance (up to QR3k per month), flight allowance, health allowance, incidental allowance....etc etc etc it all adds up.

As for take home pay you want to be looking at QR20k per month if you want to try and save out here.

All in all with car, house, health, flight allowances plus take home you want to be looking at QR40 - 50k per month.

Too many variables to say, need to judge on experience, industry, "country of origin", marital status, school age kids etc etc. and benefits of company. Ideally get everything provided for you and then take home salary of 10-20 K.
