Likely salary with Qatar Petroleum?
Hi all, I'm presently waiting for my VISA and confirmation of further arrangements to fly out to meet Qatar Petroleum in Doha for a couple of days. This "should" be the final meeting where I "should" get offered a staff position with QP as a Senior Process Engineer. My main concern really is that I can get no information at all about salaries with QP. I can't really understand why I cannot be given a likely salary range before I go out to meet them. It would save a lot of hassle if they offer a really silly salary. I have worked out that as a single status 50 year old British Chartered Engineer, I would need a minimum of £6k (30000 QR) per month salary **plus** the usual paid for things like medical, housing, transport, flights etc....
Are my expectations realistic please? Thank you.
Best Regards.
Fred.
Thank you for the comments. I was really unsure whether QP were just being difficult by not answering my questions directly about salary. This is not normal for me. Salary is my only concern since it is the **only** thing not openly discussed with the QP management before the trip to Doha. If you feel that this is normal for QP, then I'll just relax and wait for the VISA and tickets to arrive!
Thanks again.
Fred.
Fred,
DO you process your application via a headhunter or direct to QP. If via head hunter, they should have given you the information about the position and some indication of renumeration.
If direct, then only way to find out is asking either before or at the interview. At worst you will spend a couple of days of all expenses paid holiday in Doha anyway.....
The fact that QP employs MANY senior people from all over the world and MANY of them worked in multinationals (the like of BP, Shells, ExxonMobil ) before coming here means that the compensation couldn't be that bad.
Oh, and a word of friendly advice: Once you got your offer (God's willing), please do not disclose it by asking whether this salary plus housing etc is enough. Mainly because here (as with everywhere else)it is considered confidential and the prospective employer may not take it kindly.
Cheers
SK
