Dear All

i will have an interview in Qatar next week, they said i will have the offer after the interview. my job seems to be executive level reporting to a section manager, whom is reporting to a Dpt manager .

my position is an IT position with planning responsibilities, am 30yrs old single hold a masters from UK university . i would like your advice on the following :

1) what offer should I expecting, am planning to ask for 5,000 USD which is 18,000QR, is’t a good base salary or am i expecting too much or it should be more ( they will be providing accommodation, car allowance, ..ect as I heard ) .

3) What should I make sure to be in the package, I have heard that housing is expensive in Qatar, should I ask for provided accommodation not allowance .

Looking forward to your responses and comments .

Hi

I have got an offer which is :

* 14,000 basic

* 5,000 housing allowance for single ( 6500 for married )

* 1,150 TRansport

* 500 Communications

* 400 Utility

plus some benfits of furnature grant of 20,000 single, 40,000 married, car loan .

i have talked with HR and asked them for accomodation they said its not's unlikely to be provided .

Do you think the above is a good offer, and what is the range for a dcent housing for a single or a husband-wife . ( e.g 2bedroom )

hi there Hope4all. sorry for the delayed response regarding your queries and i understand what you really want. the responses from the members here are all correct. and i just wanted to include some inputs:

in the rate that you ask, is that your basic rate or the whole package? i've been working here for a year here in Doha in a consulting & engineering office as an admin-recruitment and as per my experience and knowledge, you should be aware that basic salary doesn't include your allowance. and yes, rental housing/accomodation here are so expensive now and it will move high sooner or later. plus the fact that transport services are rare here, for sure getting your own car will be your necessity.

now, the bottomline of this is you must ask the basic + allowance, your hours & days of work per week, and your working contract with them.

the company you're saying has a good background and with your nationality, i can assure you they won't let you down. how i wish i am with the same citizenship you have...

wishing you more of goodlucks ahead!

cheers!

Hi

I had good technical interview, but my HR interview was mostly about "what do you expect ?" . i got the impression that the HR interview impression and what you ask for will determine offer rather than unifed standard packages .

i guess both interviews was OK and am will be waiting for an offer

>>>i got an interview schedule which include 1hr30min interview with HR

>>>representative plus interview with job section head, is this normal

>>>although i think too much time .

Mostly HR interview is nothing but salary negotiation..

They will ask with a very less salary. But you should stick with what you are looking for.

usually ICT qatar payment is pretty good, so ask how much is the standard organizational salary first.

>>>Dose Qatari government organizations

>>>interviews include written test or its usually oral ?

of course, no written test and things. it all depends on your looks and how much you confuse ( impress) them

hi All

thanks for the info, it was useful .

so most of you seems to agree that 18k QR is good, but i need to make sure i got hosuing rather than allowance .

As a government organization i guess they have standard salary ranges, i will wait to see their offer .

your best option is to ask as per company standard ... big company like these have a standard package for  senior, meddle and junior staff

 ict is a good firm and their salary even for junior staff is quite high

best of luck dude

Don't just ask for accommodation, be specified. You may never know that you might end up sharing a room with 2 or many others.

Hi

ICT Qatar seems to be a good company only.  USD 5,000 is a good salary. But make it sure that the company is giving you accommodation and car.  Don't opt for accommodation allowance.  Best of Lucks.

Thanks Greeny .

 as i want to settle down, requesting housing seems a good idea .

i assume that government bodies provide good decent housing

Do not even think of taking  a housing allowance even if they give 15k for housing instead request for a Villa.  18k is ok.

'Good Employee' seems to be an oxymoron -

Just make sure the salary and benefits are good enough and then detach yourself emotionally.
