I have an offer for Qatar.
I am a civil engineer DCE - 1985, B.E.Civil - 2008
24 years experience in India. No middle east experience.
How much is a resonably good offer for this profile?

It's okay to join now..

But, whenever the market will be good, you can't negotiate your package in Qatar..means it's your employer's sole discretion to increase your package or not !!

Job hopping is not possible in Qatar, as per labour laws... there is a two years ban if you quit a job here...

If you resign from the job, the only option you'd have is, to leave Qatar and grab a better job in some other Gulf Country or go back home !!

Dear Xceptionalgreat,

Thnaks for your reply.

I will be provided a furnished bachelor accomodation

with facility for self cooking. So I guess it should be

a single bed flat.

After 6 months they will also provide family accomodation and I may get some rise in pay. I have to check up regarding car.

During this recessionary period what do yoy say?

Medical & Transportation are negligible, unless they provide you a Car.

Furnished bachelors' accomodation means 2500 QR, flat means 5000 QR.

Your package is 15,500-18,000 QR per month !!

It's just a reasonable offer, not very attractive.. keeping in view that you can't switchover to any other Company in Qatar once you join a Company !!

Just ask for 5000 QR more.. you migh be lucky to grab 2000-3000 QR more !!

Hey,

Thanks for the answers.

My designation offered is Senior Manager

I am from L&T in India and have only india experience.

I got an offer of QR 13000 + Furnished Accomodation

+ Transportation + Medical

Is this Ok during this recession period?

It depends on your experience in India, position offered and status of the company.

For example, if your have worked with some multinational company in India, your value will be more. If you have worked with only local Contracting companies, it will be less.

Roughly, if you have been offered a "Project Manager" level position at Construction Site by some Qatari company, you should ask for minimum QR 25,000 plus HRA and then you have a room for negotiation.

If it is some big multinational Engg Consultancy or Developers, you can ask 5,000 more.

All the best !!

I think you must get around 15 to 20 thousand qatar riyals per month. Due to recession salary range has gone down little. Best of luck!
