Policy has been changed recently. Now it is one basic salary for each completed year of service. There is no cap of ten years any more. If somebody works for 15 years, he/she will get 15 basic salaries.
is now only one moonth per year of service for a maximum of 10 years.
Pre 1997 it was one month for the first 5 years (after 5 years service)the 5 to 10 years service was 1.5 months per year and any years over 10 were at 2 months per year. All calculated at terminal salary.
Wow I am so happy that I have a copy of the Labor law, this is the 2nd time in 2 days that I can quote from it on QL.
Here we go:
Article 54,
In addition to any sums to which the worker is entiled to upon the expiry of his services, the employer shall pay the end of service gratuity to the worker who has completed employment of one year or more. This gratuity shall be agreed upon by the 2 parties, provided that it is not less than a 3 week wage for every year of the employment. The worker shall be entiled to gratuity for the fractions of the year in proportion to the duration of employemnt .....The last basic wage shall be the base for the calculation of the gratuity.
So this is the minimum. Now there might be some companies (mostly foreign) that might give more, but this is highly unlikely.

I am a little confused by the wording. do you mean like an end of year bonus? Or are you talking about paid vacation?
