We are in the process of bringing in a maid from the Phillipines. We were intitially informed that her pay would be $200 a month, now we are informed the law has changed and we have to pay $400 a month. Does anyone know if this is true?
@ Mindraider and Alwahesh- I can assure you that your friend made it legal only in Qatar, BUT not legally from Philippines.
as per Philippine Law its $400 but sad to say a lot of them are grabbing the $200, they signed two contracts back in Philippines, the 400 and 200, they are aware of this.....
but if u find them good and worth increasing why not....also some maids during their off they do part time jobs to augment their incomes....if their sponsor will allow them....
To the people answering suggesting ways of getting around the rules: If you can't afford to pay someone $400 a month, you probably should not be bringing in a maid. Yes, I know room and board is included, but people should be getting a minimal living wage here.
all my friends are bringing Philippino maids legally and they are paying 150$.
Until now most agencies are not following this, there are MU between the maid and the employers thru agencies,,, usually, maids agreed but when arrived, they complain and they accuse their employers of abusing them..now Pinay maids are rarely hired because of these

Yes! its true...a $400 dollars salary govt. law/policy for Filipina housemaid had been imposed long time, but few people/agencies strictly follows it and instead changing the housemaid visa categories into something else just to deploys the maids. But now is also illegal to do that, and if being caught will be punishable and charge of illegal recruitment.
