Discrimination to Female Employees

Most companies here in qatar does not give all benefits to it's female employees like housing, education, travel allowance to those who are hired locally, not matter how big the organization is .. It is understandable if these benefits are not provided if your husband's company is covering for all these expenses, other wise they should be given the same benefits as any other employee, irrespective of being hired locally or not.  It is also common is case of female employees working in very reputed organizations though they claim to be equal oppurtunity employer, why is this discrimination when it comes to salaries and benefits.

Also, does anybody know of companies  which treat their employees equally irrespective of being hired locally, internationally, female, etc..

Being under husband's sponsorship only helps the company without going into the hassle of going through immigration.  I feel the government should do something about female employee rather than getting money from them as work permit, etc.. I like what is followed in the UAE, like most reputed employers get a letter from the husband's company what benefits are provided to the husband and provide their female staff with only what is not covered and like when it comes to HRA they pay the difference only if the rent exceeds the what the husband company pays and within the limits the female employee is eligible. Atleast that is fair since nobody gets to misuse.

 some companies yes, some no.

i remember when I have first joined here 2 years ago, the labour department was refusing work permits to any new employee, untill the company did the same level of salary and allowance for male and female employees. And they did.

If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.

My company is not good as well lol . They even removed our HRA  6 months ago and now still  under disputes if they will  provide HRA or not to all under husband/father sponsorship.

Not my company for sure. You just described my situation. But I am happy in away that I am not really attached to my company. I can leave my company anytime I want with few weeks prior notice as I am under my hubby sponsorship.

It is crap deal in terms of salary and allowance but the good thing is I can earn money and still enjoy my freedom.

Its changing, many companies started giving HRA for females also, not same as their male counterparts but part of it. Maybe in future they will give school fees as well. If you are sponsored by your husband, then he will have certain family benefits from his company.

I am not justifying, but slowly the rules are changing. Maybe we can see equal opportunity days soon.

i had my experience on discrimination when i landed on my first job. being the only female in the company it is really a struggle. you have to adjust with all your coworkers but sad to say...they dont adjust with me as much as I do.

i need to quickly catch up with the working environment and as time goes i gained a lot of knowledge. but unfortunately i am not able to see much growth from my co workers. salary does not compensate with my responsibilities which continues to grow...

and now they are all depending on  female staffs here...i cant understand why our management cant push the male staffs? as far as output and productivity is concern, they dont have much yet paid more....

is nationality also an issue?
