Is this any good?

Hi everyone,

I am currently considering the following offer from Al Jazeera to go and work for them as an Assistant Producer. Does this seem a good deal?

Salary: 144000 QR (a year)
Housing: 120000 QR
Relocation: 7500 QR (one off)
Car loan: 60000 QR (interest free over 2 years)
Furniture allowance: 35000 QR (pay back 50% if I return after 2 years)
1 return home trip a year (paid for)
Good medical insurance
Good career progression

I am 25 years old, single and 3 years into my media career. I have no ties but is this good enough to lead a decent lifestyle as a young single man?

Thanks

David

You are a pilot and it naturally goes that your salary is sky high .... in the stratosphere whereas the other guy is an assistant director... I don't think there is a similarity....

You sound like a westerner so I'm basing my assumptions on that

Housing allowance is ok, but everything else is on the low side!

12,000QR month salary isn't that great, you will easily spend most of that every month if you want a decent social life! Remember its around 40QR for a beer here and it quickly adds up. Also everyone needs a hobby and most of these I.e. golf, sailing etc are all expensive in Doha aswell.

Just an example but when I moved here 5 yrs ago when I was 25

Salary 32000QR / month

Housing 10000QR / month

Transport allowance 1500QR / month

Allianz gold health insurance

And that was 5 yrs ago Doha is more expensive now but luckily my pay has gone up aswell
