Hi people,
Cureently considering a job offer in Doha. I have been offered 14,000 QR oer month for a single status package working in admin.
Can someone please tell me if this a fair offer. Also any other advice about what I should double check etc when negotiating.
thanks
"And at this stage a package of 14,000 per month (which includes a housing allowance of 2,000)."
Currently even shared accommodation for a western expat is approx. qr4,000/month. That's if you can even find another female expat to share accomm. with. I think you have to negotiate for accommodation to be included as part of your package. You won't find anything for qr2,000/month
No answer?
I had a job interview in Doha in the oil industry with international company.
I am Engineer with western engineering degree and 20 years of western experience.
The interview was for a Contract Manager position in Doha.
Questions (urgent responses are appreciated):
1.What is the expected (base)salary range for such a position?
2.Can the company pay back the employee an equivalent check to replace the Taxes that I will end up paying in my home country?
3. What is the rent cost for (furnished) accomodations (4 bed rooms 2-floors villa, 3 bath rooms, AC, seperate maid room,in a closed complex)? Should I ask the company to pay rent directly? Should I accept an allowance then I pay for the rent? Does the rent increase every 3 months, or 6 months, or one year? Should the (utility)costs be included in the deal?
4. What kind of a percentage bonus should I ask for?
5. Should I accept an allowance for kids' school? or should I ask the company to pay the school directly? Is the bus transportation cost usually part of the deal?
6. Air line tickets: Should I ask for economy or buisness travel? Is that too much to ask? Do I get paid an allowance for the tickets or the company pay directly?
7. How many days of vacation am I expecting to get per year? If I do not go back home for vacation, would I loose the vacation?
8. What does (13th check) means?
9. Would the company provide a car?
10. What is the best hospital in Doha that has the best Doctors? What are typical details for the (private) health care and benefits?
11. How many sick leave am I allowed to get?
11. Am I missing something that I should be aware of?
I do appreciate your immediate responses very much.
(Daniyah).
If you don't get your house fully paid don't bother.
But our fellow country man is right if you have fully paid housing, you will be able to save.
If not DO NOT DO IT !!!!!
You could ask people if they want a flat mate.
Lots of people share villas etc.
You can get cheap cars from 0 -10,000 if you just want to go from a to b..
busybird for your advice.
I am offered:
Medical & life insurance.
30 days holiday per year.Plus a flight home to my country of residence. Hours of work are 40 per week.
And at this stage a package of 14,000 per month (which includes a housing allowance of 2,000).
From Auckland.
I have to neg on the housing allowance - or just ask if they will pay for my accom. Arrrgh things arent so staright forward over there.
Any other pointers or things I should be aware of?
where do you work??? saudi??
The offer can be evaluated only after one knows what's included and excluded in the offer.
You need to look out whether the following are included/excluded?
1. Accommodation
2. Transportation
3. Medical Insurance
4. Accidental Insurance
5. Airtickets
6. Vacation pay
7. End of Service Pay
8. Working hours?
I would suggest you negotiate to get the accommodation provided by the company.
Cheers!!
QAR 6000 might be the rent of a flat per month
QAR 50,000 might be the cost of buying a new (not used) small car.
QAR 1000 might be the cost of gas per month
QAR 2500 might be the cost of full insurance of the car
QAR 200 might be the cost of car registration
My advise to SilverFern is to negotiate with your Boss/HR Dept for arranging a company provided furnished accomodation, instead of providing tricky "allowance" as finding the decent accomodation in Qatar is HELL FIRE now, regardless of single or family!
That salary for supporting one person should enable you to continue to support a good travel habit. However make sure that the accommodation is included, furnished and even better utilities paid.
Where abouts in NZ are you coming from?
