Administration Officer, Qatar Airways
By northshorekiwi •
Does anyone know what is the grade level of an Administration Officer in Qatar Airways? What is the normal starting salary and what are the fringe benefits? How is Qatar Airways as an employer in terms of employee retention and career growth opportunities? Do they have an annual performance review in place? There had been many AO job postings in the Qatar Airways website recently and I am keen to know more about this opportunity and how Qatar Airways stand as an employer. Thank you heaps in advance for your reply.
Have read your PM. Appreciate it. AND don't worry about your previous messages, I was taking everything constructively. In fact, I appreciate your thoughts. All the best.
Check your inbox... and just so that we have it on record, I am NOT trying to hit on you :-)
Ha ha ha, I think it's a global phenomenon and part of human nature not to get contented with what we have. That's what happened to me and my husband after living in Dubai for 13 years. We wanted to get out just like many expats living there at that time. We decided to come to NZ, not to have a change of passport as the mean reason, but to start a family. Things didn't work out the way we wanted and there were a lot of changes along the way. The bottom line is, we all have our reasons in one way or the other.
You sound so much like my sister who did the same and now wants to come back to the mid east after a change of passport :-(
Sometimes you have to look at the other side of the fence to appreciate what you have. When we were new in NZ, we missed the life in Dubai. There was so much regret why we moved down under. But now having lived here for a while and having just returned from a Middle East trip, I started to see things I never saw and appreciated before. Your comment is an affirmation of that. Well, the AO job looked attractive but it doesn't mean I want to move there desperately. That's why I really appreciate this forum because I get to see all your viewpoints. Thanks again. =)
If you got all that already, why on earth would you wanna move here? :-(
I have visited Qatar but haven't worked there. I worked in Dubai in my previous life :-) but now lives permanently in New Zealand. In the company where I am currently working, we have a performance review which is used to gauge how much our salary increase would be for the following year and how much bonus we will receive for the current year. There are no other perks and benefits though like free annual ticket, etc. but generally speaking, the work-life balance in NZ is pretty good. Healthcare is free and if we put in a certain percentage into kiwisaver which is a government subsidised savings scheme, our company puts in the same amount. This is a sort of retirement fund that we can keep until we reach 65.
... would be more advisable for you to get out here and check things for yourself and maybe things are not much different out here then at where you are coming from
Hi, appreciate your feedback. Do you mean then that "employee retention and career growth opportunities" are alien words in many companies in Qatar?
@XXC. Hi, thank you for your feedback. I am taking the 5500 you have mentioned as Qatari Riyals, right?
@JohnnyBravo: Hi. Thanks for your comment. May I ask how you came to know that they have a "hire and fire rule"? Have you worked there or know someone who has worked in Qatar Airways? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Well thats a big joke out here in this parts. It really depends on who is your manager for that period of time. I have had colleagues who have been working with companies doing the musical chairs like when a new manager comes in he will try and play around with the serving staff with excuses like recession, new skills and ideas, lack of business , etc in short use every possible trick to remove the serving and trusted staff to bring in new staff from the managers own state or country which will make the new managers life easy and his other worldly pursuits and work knowledge or lack of it not easily visble to the top management (looting included)
they offered the same position for my brother. he didnt accept eventhough he came only for 6 months training. the salary was too low. i guess 5500 full package.
Hire and Fire rule they have
