If you got your engineer degree from asian country than do not even think to come to canada because here things are different you will not get any job in your field unless you go back to school and get the license. In canada most of the taxi drivers are all the engineers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan. My advise get all the facts before you decide to move to canada. Good luck.

The point is you get what you can negotiate from your employer!! Why ask us what you will make? It is an absurd and redicules question. The reality is he may get 12.50$ an hour or he will listen for us to tell him how to negotiate??

OK I change my answer 1,112.00$ per hour. Search the market, check around, compare your experiences to theirs. Our opinion on how much he should make is worthless!!

Well... silly question – silly answers... :):)

Khayaam, you are not really right about it.. maybe you are right, Mongolian Degree in engineering won’t be equal to the Canadian one, but Diplomas of the most of European countries (including the eastern Europe), and of many other countries in the world are pretty wide acceptable in Canada ..Teacher’s diplomas are also accepted as they are, as well as many other professions... as for the lawyers and doctors, you are right. One has to start basically from the scratch, or at least to go through whole chain of the tests and exams... well.. i find it fair enough...especially for the doctors..

And Alfa wolf, it’s definitely more than $12.50 an hour. $12.50 an hour gets an office clerk with 2-3 years of experience, which in Doha gets about $5-6 an hour. Please note, minimum in Canada is $6.5 an hour, but basiacally no one get paid that low...maybe only illegal workers with no status in Canada... even 17-years old guys in McDonalds are getting more than that

First you have to get Canadian Engineerin Licence in order to represent yourself as an engineer in Canada. If your education, background and experience match Canadian standards then you will qualify for the Licence. You will have to pass the tests in Canadian Civil Engeneering Society to earn the Licence. Search the web for extra info. The bottom line is - your engineering degree earned outside Canada would not make you the Canadian Licenced Engineer. That is valid for other professions too. Engineer (physician, lawer) in Mongolia (for example) is not an Engeneer(physician, lawer) in Canada just because he/she got Mongolian university diploma.
