Ramadan Burnout
We are heading into the final days of Ramadan and man oh man, we are feeling it. The fasting, the heat, the night prayers, family, work responsibilities, and just day-to-day life.
During this period a lot of people can feel burned out. Tired, dehydrated, and the weather is no ally at the moment.
Here’s how you can give your Ramadan one more concerted push.
Firstly, make caffiene your friend again. A lot of us face a break-up with caffeinated drinks during the month of Ramadan, but to make sure you are taking advantage of the final nights, enjoy your coffee or cappuccino post-iftar.
The caffeine will help you keep up with your night prayers and give you the energy to stay awake till fajr.
Secondly, drink tons of water. It’s the lack of H2O that is making you feel lethargic during the day, not the lack of food. From when you break your fast onwards, try to keep a 2 litre bottle of water around you and drink liberally. This way you can visually see how much water you are consuming during the evening.
Thirdly, you sometimes have to just give in and take things a little slower. If you went full power with family, friends, and work for the first 3 weeks of Ramadan, then take a step-back if it’s beginning to wear on you, keep going, but just not as fast.
Finally, sleep!!!! Whenever you can sleep, do it. I have witnessed individuals who look bright and bushy-tailed throughout Ramadan, they have made sure to nap regularly. Thus, sometimes, with staying awake and fasting all day and praying all night, you can give yourself a one hour nap to keep the push along.
There are only a few days left until Eid - so don’t lose out on these last days, especially while they’re still here. #noregrets.
