And they clean this all for the princely sum of 35 riyals a day . . . (and rice and a bunk in the industrial area, of course).

Fantastic photo.

This method of façade cleaning called as abseiling system. It’s commonly used to clean the non uniform shape buildings like the ZIG ZAG. Normally the building operator hires a specialist abseiling companies which have well training and professional abseilers (people climbing in the picture). They are professional and well payed. Same method used in for Tornado tower cleaning

yes its a dangerous job but not neccessarily done because they have to. These guys are working in this field because its adventurous and fun. I am sure most of them love what they are doing. There is more to life than just sitting on a chair all day and get paid.

did you know about them? my few infos about them, is that they are well trained . their boss if not mistaken is a professional rock climber...dont just judge people on what you have seen. be fair to yourself because judging without enough knowledge is more senslessness. the best you can do is admire their skills, they are the spiderman of doha, the real spider man. and for sure they have a very good compensation not that what you think. i saw people climbing a more dangerous steep without any payment except that it is their hobby/adventuristic but no body judge them.

flor you have a good point...

romisa where did you get that notion, can you support that claim? or you are just assuming...our company hired a very competent safety officer, and in our construction site you cannot see a worker working in a high rise position without harness. your claim is something very unusual. one of our division received a certificate of appreciation for reaching a 50,000 man hours without any safety problems minor or major and now still counting nearly 140,000 man hours without any accident.

romisa i wish that before you judge anyone be sure that your claim is guinuine and supported. its a shame indeed...

and that what's matter, the attention and "record" as they called it.

As for the cleaning crews, that's their job. They can opt gor a flatform but I think this method is what they specialize. They work and get the adventure of their life. What's more to ask for, "adventure" with pay?

whyteknight... LMAO! thats so true!! But listen guys, your right... its very dangerous and the pay probably isn't fair. But you all need to understand that these men/women working jobs like these do it because they need ANY sort of income. They have families and kids that they will do anything for... that they need to provide for.... which is why they accept any job that is given to them. Its sad but thats how it is... for thousands of years you had the "kings" (if thats what you would call it) and the slaves. Its f**ked up but its life... not only in doha.. its all over the world. I am from the USA and over there we have a lot of mexicans that we pay CRAPPY for HARD labor...

I wonder how these people are hanging there without some platform,...they need some cleaning materials in addition to the piece of fabric they have...!! and they need to rest and have some water in their journey downward..!!

really life is cruel. thank god for my job...

Zigzag has the worst design I have ever seen. It just doesn't make sense. It is disproportionate, looks ugly and is very difficult to maintain.

they need to clean the other sides first. Where it juts out and goes back in really collects the sand and dirt. Poor design. It almost always looks dirty.
