kbaisi..ok excuse my ignorance… we don’t see any such incidents in the paper....do have any justification for Govt not building any over bridges or underpass for pedestrian crossings? while they are spending millions on Roads?

@ formatted Oh really? Immediate action for locals you say? You should tell this to my dad's friend's brother who suffered brain damage and was reduced to a wheelchair because of a speeding driver on one of the roads that lack pedestrian crossings. It's been several years since the accident and still that road is exactly the same. So please spare me your ignorant imaginary beliefs on what action would have been taken if it was a local.

In spite of so many pedestrian die every year while crossing three track roads...why the Govt don’t do anything to build over bridges or underpass for crossing?

Obviously locals don’t need to cross the road. If a local was dead while crossing the road they would have taken immediate action.

Many companies submitted proposal for building such over bridges and underpass..which are on hold forever.. Millions of riyals are wasted by demolishing good buildings...they don’t have money to save life of expats..

The driver and the victim were both HUMAN BEINGS. We as Human beings tend to make MISTAKES. Let's not pass judgement on either. I just wish a pedestrian crossing or over bridge would be setup to avoid this in the future.

First up, RIP, and condolences to friends and family.

The term 'Accident' shouldn't be applied to car crashes. Accident implies that nothing could be done. Driver awareness and speed are the most critical factor, also in this case road layout.

If the guy stayed around, then props to him for taking responsibility.

I had an accident once. I was driving my Dad's car and hit a man. He was walking on the side of the road and talking on a mobile phone. I was coming from behind. I saw him walking and talking on the phone. Just to make him aware i pressed the horn. 2 seconds after hearing the horn he darted across the road without looking back. I pressed the brakes and he heard the screeching sound. He was startled but He still did not look back. However, he adjusted his motion while running and twisted his foot and fell down on the bonnet of my car which had come to a complete standstill. I came out of the car and saw that the man's leg is broken just above the ankle. He was a heavy man and it must have broken under his weight when he twisted his ankle and before he fell down on my car. Soon a crowd gathered and apparantly he was from the neighbourhood as many people knew him. They started to hurl abuses at me and some even tried to throw punches at me. Even neutral people were on his side as his leg was broken and I just had a minor dent on my bonnet. It did not appeal to their fair side. I told them that I would take him to the hospital and pay for the expenses. After making me hear some more abuses, some young guys and me put him in my car and 3 other men also sat inside. We were about to go to the hospital when the man realized that the fall had broken his mobile phone and he wanted somebody to rush to his home and bring his other phone. Finally, the phone came and we went to the hospital. At the hospital, the police came and he again started shouting at me and saying that it was all my fault. I requested him not to register a case with the police as it was an accident and I have already done whatever I could have. But he registered the case and it is still ongoing. So...my rules are if you hit a person and there are many people around then just go straight to the police station and tell them to send an ambulance there and if there are not many people around then get out of the car, put the person in the car and then leave the place for the hospital as soon as you can, before you are subjected to the crowd justice.

at 9:00pm tonight, me and my daughter happened to pass by the area and saw a bunch of white flowers in the (middle) island of the road. Im confident that that was the exact place where the accident occured... I felt a bit chill and say a little prayer for her loss and prayed that the driver be caught.

I've been thinking of the accident since I first heard it yesterday from Lobo. And I remember what one of my

Qatari co-worker mentioned to me that if there was any accident which involves death, the police authority will do all it can to catch the culprit. Plus we all know that road camera's are commonly installed in that area, this might help the authority to identify the driver.

That is why i get too optimistic that the culprit will be caught. Thanks to "storms" and "kennethpotato" for their time to update us.

Yeah i agree with "stealth", not to blame only the driver for the accident, the crew must also been careless at that time which contributed to the whole process of the accident.... BUT "storms" is DEAD right, that what ever maybe the driver's side of the story, HIT-AND-RUN is Murder, he is a criminal and he should be punished.

The crew might be parking her own car somwhere along al matar, that's why she was to cross the road when she got hit. But why cant the lazy bus driver cannot park at the airport? ....it takes 2 minutes for the staff to get down from the mini bus.

QA Driver should be dropping the staff inside the airport. How come he is dropping them off on roadsides? To make his work easy?

Again another irresponsible mini-bus driver.

Its very easy to get runover on those six lanes as the side view can easily get blocked by vehicles running parallel to your vehicle.

The fist vehicle may be able to stop but the one

running in the second or third lane may not be so lucky.

It is a fact the Malaysian cabin crew died yesterday morning in an accident. She was hit by a driven by a Bangladeshi. Who said he ran away? He was taken into custody at that time itself.

Was she a little careless when she crossed the road?

Didnt she see the incoming vehicle? If so what prompted her to cross the road?

Looks like the driver lost his attention also at the time. What was he thinking at the time? Only he can answer. Was it a deliberate accident?

Stop blaming only the driver for the accident.

There is a urgent need of pedistrian crossing on the Airport road... Starting from the Central Bank Signal (Croniche) until Airforce roundabout (also known as wakara roundabout) there is no proper pedistrian crossing in between the roads except on the signals.

Airport road is considered as most dangerous or killer road in Qatar.

Ashgal should take immediate action and build proper pedistrian bridiges and crossings else they will be keep counting the deads !!!

I think most of the deads are QatarAirways staff (I may be wrong but this is the 3rd case of QatarAirways employee I have heard in 2 yrs)

In this case, I have to salute Dubai it's initative in buiding several pedistrain crossing and many are airconditioned ....
