some people may ask salary for survey purposes...how much is the standard rate for this position. probably this person is earning the same salary for the past 5 yrs and Doha has been different since then...this is a tool to wake up his manager for an increment...

so hummer does this suffice your inquiry? anyways since you receive such question do you feel indifferent?

HAve you attended our gathering? did we ask you about your work and salary? I think Jozhil is right. maybe the person who asked you saw your hummer and wanted to have one.

its not right but for me its not a big deal if my kabayan will ask for it i just tell that im earning enough to pay for my house amortization. done

maybe for some people, knowing that:

- i earn more for the same work, they will ask for any vacancy or refer their friends or relatives

- they are earning more they will feel contented

- i look far more well-off than my salary can afford, they will assume that i have 'sidelines'

in my office everyone (indian, srilanaka, egyptian, sudanese, lebanese, filipinoes) knows about all our senior staff's salary, including the GM. so such trait is not limited to filipinos

maybe because you are riding H3, that's the reason why they are eager to know where you're working at & how much your salary... then asking you a follow up question if your company has any job vacancy... to refer a friend or to somebody who is looking for a better company or a company that gives a lot of benefits to their employee

FilExpat keep on comparing thier salary????? since when did this happen? i have been attending the group events since april but nobody cared to ask about my salary. we dont even talk about our real names unless the person wants to.

i really dont know where Hummer got this idea... maybe there are other FilExpat group existing in this forum aside from ours.

I've done that (ask bout salary and other stuff bout work) to some filipinos(i am a filipina & PROUD to be one),they don't get offended.again it's a matter of How you ask them.Of course i always say " if you don't mind me asking".all of them answers my questions with a smile.I don't judge them by their salaries.I'm quite new here in Doha and wanted to know more or less how much they get for certain jobs because if i will (actually planning to get one) apply a job i would like to have a basic knowledge if I'm getting a fair deal.I'm not a rude person, am very down to earth and love interacting with other people.so far never met anyone that's rude or should i say "disrespectful" to me. :-)

This is one characteristic i disagree with some of my kabayan, it is a very bad manners asking for his salary coz this should be confidential.Asking where he works is fine but that should be all.

By datu_act• 2 Jul 2008 09:37

I dont think so.For me isn't true.. I never met any kabayan who asked me bout my salary and neither I asked them about theirs...I usually asked them which part of the country you from.. that's it!..

Good morning all...

hummer, you dont mean ALL Filipinos right?

Otherwise your observation is sorry to say not accurate.

Just a piece of advice if you are really interested to know the answer, when you see a Filipino behaving like this, just ask him/her yourself why.

may be those who ask they try to judge others by their salary, but salary is not eveything u knw....Hmmm

To compare?

Or some people, wishes to asked for vacancy if they found out that your company offers better than what they are earning?

To help by means of convincing to transfer or to apply to their workplace?

For companion?

Ei... don't know?

you're right darude he should post his questions there, but since He unsubscribed (wonder y? :-) himself from the group he cannot post anymore forum in the filexpat group. (am i right)And by the way H3 you're also a filipino right? so you also ask the same questions bout salaries and where they work.( even posted your own salary)There's no harm or disrespect when you ask such questions,it's matter of HOW you ask it.anyway you don't have to answer if you don't want to. good am to everybody :-)
